Hi,
My son used to repeat words when he was 9 months old and we thought he will start speaking soon as he used to repeat some complex words during that time. But around 10th month he got sick for few weeks in a row and could not play or talk for few months as he was tired most of the time. And we got busy with some other work at home and office so we did not focus too much on his talking skills in his early toddler period. He is now 20 months old but he still does not repeat many words even though he repeats and recognizes common things like Dog, Apple, Ball etc which he picked up long time ago.
Please let me know if you have any tips or tricks to get the toddler repeat words and learn new words.

Thanks for your help in advance

So V. when your son got sick around his 10th month, had he been vaccinated within two weeks of getting sick? With boys it is so important to be aware that environmental damage is contributing to or causing 1 in at least 58 boys to develop autism. It is true that boys talk later than girls, but when your baby is developing and babbling and then stops or regresses, that is not normal.

It could be nothing but it could be something. I would go to www.tacanow.org and take a look around. http://www.talkaboutcuringautism.org/autism/dsm_level_fou...

Do not have your son have anymore vaccines (ESPECIALLY the 'swine' flu shots - NO ONE should have this one) and talk with your pediatrician about it. If your doctor says 'oh don't worry, boys just talk later than girls', get a second opinion. There is so much to do and if it is normal and he does start talking away at 2 1/2 then YEAH!!! Hang in there V. - you are right to be concerned and you are doing a great job. Hugs and let me know if you want to talk further.

The CDC just Friday quietly announced that 1 in 100 children have autism and that these numbers are based on 2007 numbers, not todays. Have any of you read this yet? No. I didn't think so. We have a real epidemic here and everyone is talking about the swine flu when there are real problems to discuss.

Point at objects and label them over and over. He sounds very developmentally on track at the moment so don't worry unneccessarily - don't put too much pressure on him and relax and let him enjoy learning about his world. Language really explodes after 2. Freaking out about autism if he has no other signs of it and stopping all vaccinations could put him and other children at risk for getting serious illnesses. Talk to your doctor or well-informed people that you trust before you make decisions about withholding medical treatments for preventing illness. The autism posting is nothing more than sensationalism and fear mongering.
Goodluck and don't worry!

HI, V.,

Not that I have any advice... But I thought it was funny about 'REPEATING' words, when your inquiry was repeated twice. Kind of cute. I wonder why it was repeated?
