Just wondering when everyones children got most or all there teeth. My 22-month old only has just a few front ones but no back molars. He was late getting the front ones as well so just seeing if I'm not the only one with a late teether.
Thank you all who responded. I feel much better knowing my child isnt the only one who has teeth coming in later! I asked my sons pediatrician and he said not to worry at all. They will come in eventually.
My son will be 2 in August. He has 4 top front, 4 bottom front, 4 molars, and I think he is teething again. Every child is different, though. James was late getting teeth, and then he got them all at once. I wouldn't worry if I were you. I have a niece who is a year older than James and she didn't get her teeth until after James did.

Babies are all so different... My daughter is almost 15 Months old and she has her fifth tooth coming through finally~ she got the first two when she was around 7 - 8 months... hers are coming in super slow...
Her friend though, is four months older than her and has ALL HIS TEETH!

Hi Melissa! You are somewhat lucky, my daughter had all of her teeth including molars by this age, she is now 27 months and we have already had to go to the dentist 3x's even though we brush her teeth 2x a day since her first two at 3months...the longer the better, our cute little girl gets gunk build up so easy and the dentist and doctor have said it was b/c they came in so early! Tim got his teeth kind of late. I know the first ones came in around 9 months, but without digging out the baby book I can't remember on his molars. (He's 11 now)
It's actually better for their teeth to come in later. The later the baby teeth come in, the later the permanent teeth come in. That's better for two reasons. The first is of course that they have to last 60 or so years. The second is that the later those 6-yr molars show up the better care they'll get because kids have practiced on their baby teeth longer.
My first child didn't even cut a tooth until she was 11 mo. old and didn't get her last one until she was 3. My second daughter is 23 mo. and only has 12 teeth.

You should schedule your baby for a visit to a pediatric dentist. Everyone should be seen by their first birthday. My three year old basically only has his molars because his front top baby teeth were malformed and had to be extracted.
My 22 month old has a mouth full of teeth. And one of my best friends baby, who is also 22 months old only has his front teeth. Her family dentist told her not to worry. It is actually better for the teeth to come in later. They will have their teeth longer into adulthood.

I didn't start to get my molars until I was 28 mos so I won't be too worried. Just let you know, I don't know a single child that got his/her teeth late that wasn't later identified as Learning Disabled. Just letting you know so you can be on top of it when it comes up in school. I didn't read, write or even identify my letters until I was in 5th grade and only then because my mom worked with me EVERYDAY! I didn't get my 12 year molars until I was 19 either so all of those teeth might be late as well.
My youngest did the same thing. She was months late getting all of her teeth and didn't finish getting all of her molars until she was almost 3. It was a big change from her sisters who got them either early or at the approximate age the books give you. What I noticed is that she didn't have much room in her mouth for the molars and that is why they weren't coming in.
I guess I am in the same boat as you. My son is almost 9 1/2 months old and has NOT ONE tooth. His pediatrician says he is teething but it doesn't seem to me he is. So my son is starting out late also.
Bekah didn't get her molars until she was 2 1/2. They say the longer the teeth don't come in the better. Don't worry, they will eventually come down!
Every child is different. My 2 year old has most of her teeth but there are a few that are just now coming in. I was frantic at first because our son had all of his teeth by now. Our doctor reassured us that everything was fine and each child develops differently.
I wouldn't worry about your son's teeth. They'll come when they want too. If your concerned though, take him to the dentist and have them looked at. he's at the perfect age to get him use to going to the dentist. that way he won't associate the dentist with "pain". My kids love going to the dentist. They have been brushing their teeth since they could hold the tooth brush and to this day, they have never had cavities. I have a 18 year old, a 9 year old and a 7 year old.
My son is getting his molars now and he is just a few months younger than yours. My son's pediatrician said that it's actually not considered abnormal is a baby doesen't have any teeth at this age. I wouldn't worry about it... believe me when they start coming in you will miss the days before molar-teething! =)

My children both got their teeth late in their toddler years. McKenna is 21 months and she has 6 teeth total. Our pediatrician says it is great and normal. She thinks it is actually better the later because most children are off the bottle, pacifiers and sippy cups and are able to brush easier. The thing she told me is the gums are actually really hard and can accomplish most chewing. (not all) But it is great to be reminded that your child is not abnormal. I sometimes worry about McKenna as well. He smile sure is great though! Have a great weekend.
