Teeth - Roseville, CA

P., don't worry about it. I have three kids...10, 5 and 3. They all got teeth really late in fact my youngest was about 14 months before she got her first tooth! I just had my oldest at the dentist and she told me that he still has 10 baby teeth. And my middle child who will be 5 in May has not lost any yet and does not have any loose ones. My kids dr told me they don't worry until the child is 2 years old without any teeth.
Good luck and don't worry, us Moms have too much to worry about as it is!!!

my girls are funny! my first got teeth at 3 months, she is now 20 months, had all of her teeth at 11 months or so. our second is only 9 weeks old and you can see the start of teeth. crazy huh! my friends daughters got her teeth at 10 months! so its across the board! but u will know when it happens. CRANKY

My 2 sons seemed to get their teeth around 6 or 7 months, but my daughter who is 15 months didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 9 months! All my friends had babies around her age and they all had teeth earlier than her.

Her 2 bottoms came in first. Just seemed to appear one day. She didn't get the next 2 on the top until she was about a year old! About 2 months ago she cut the 4 sides top & bottom. And just last week she started cutting the top molars! (yikes!)

I have a friend who had a daughter who didn't cut teeth until 11 months. (her daughter is 14 now, and teeth are normal) I think it just depends on the child. If it overly concerns you, you can always ask your pediatrician. But sounds normal to me. Get ready when they do come in it will seem like they are all coming in one right after another!!

Oh and btw, I have a 6 yr old boy who has not lost any teeth yet. None are even loose yet. I am not concerned though, my oldest who will be 14 in May lost his teeth late too. My 6 yr old doesn't mind very much, but it did bother my oldest like your daughter. I told him that it would happen in time and that when all his friends had no more teeth to give to the tooth fairy, he'd still be getting visits from her and money. Although this didn't comfort much, but made him feel a bit better.

Oh I almost forgot, but kids can teethe starting months, weeks or days before they actually cut the teeth. Fun, huh?! ;)

My second child now 15, did not get any teeth until she was 12-13 months old. She also lost all of her other teeth later than the other kids did. We just told her that it meant her big people teeth were going to be better
than most other kids' because they took longer to grow.
She seemed okay with that.

My husband, daughter and I all teethed right at 4 months old. But I have ben a nanny for many children and babies and have seen the first tooth come in as late as 15 months. It's a wide range of when that first tooth can come in and it's completely normal. I say if your baby is a late teether, just enjoy it!! It's not fun, lol.

I was worried about the same thing with both of my girls (now 4 & 8). They didn't get any teeth until about 13 months. The doctors told us that it was completely normal and that the longer they are inside the gums the healthier they tend to be. My oldest was about 5 1/2 losing her first tooth and the next few didn't happen right away. I would say for now just enjoy that gummy little smile!

My kids were both late teethers. They got their first teeth around 10 months old, even though they had been drooling heavily since around 4 months. Just be patient, I don't think you have anything to worry about for a few more months.

Hi P., your story sounds a lot like mine. My son had all the symptoms of teething for about a month and a half with nothing to show for it. Then he finally got his first tooth when he was 7 months old. This seemed a lot later than when my daughter was little, but it ended up being great because within a 3 week period he got 6 teeth! It was probably the most excruciating 3 weeks of our lives, but at least we didn't have 3 months of teething pains as with our daughter.

Speaking of her, she is turning 6 in a few days and she still has all of her baby teeth. She's had two that we thought for sure were loose, but I checked a week later and they were tighter as well. She sees her friends at kindergarten losing their teeth and getting special stuff from the tooth fairy but I just remind her that her time will come and when it does it will be so exciting.

Usually they start to get them a little earlier, but children don't always do the 'usual'. Also, some families have a history of getting teeth earlier or later. In my family and especially my husband's family, there is a history of getting them later. My husband and his four siblings all got their teeth closer to 9-12 months (which is quite late). My 8 month old hasn't gotten any teeth yet, but I am not worried at all. I wouldn't worry about your little one getting teeth, they will come in soon enough.
