At this age, it's just a stage. Those new teeth feel funny, sometimes itchy, and grinding is a cool new trick he can do! Ignore it, distract him, give him something to chew on and it'll pass.
My son just turned 9 months and four days ago just got his top front teeth. He has had his two front lower ones for months now. He just began grinding them together and not sure if this is a stage or if I should be worried. I'm pretty sure that due to it being new for him, he is feeling it out, but should I be concerned, and how do I stop him doing it.
Hi Everyone. It was just a stage. He is now 10 1/2 months and no longer grinds them. Thanks to all.

My son started grinding his teeth a lot when he got his molars. I think it is a new sensation for them - it passes. I wouldn't be worried about it - it may come and go as he gets new teeth.

I think it's a stage. My first 2 went through it off and on with new teeth. I would gently pat their mouths with flat fingers to get them to stop...just enough to distract them. It drove me crazy, but they are just exploring a new sensation. It did pass though before long. But it did return with additional teeth for short periods.
Hi! My daughter did this to - for quite a while actually. My dentist said it was normal and not to worry. So I didn't and it stopped and her teeth are ok. We also gave her something to chew on when she started doing it. Worked sometimes.
My daughter did this too when she got her top front teeth. We had asked the ped about it and they said that it should be fine. It lasted a few weeks and then stopped.
Hi there S.,
My daughter did this as well. She did it for a long time. It was so hard to take. It just sounds so horrible when they are grinding away at their poor little teeth! Ak! Our dentist and doctor also told us not to worry about it. They said that it is totally normal and probably a phase. They seemed to be right. She doesn't do it anymore. :)
Good luck to you!
Give him something to chew on durring the day to stop him from grinding his teeth. If you really become concerened call a peds dentist.
