Hi Everyone! I have an almost 9-week-old son. My mom says she thinks he is starting to teeth. He recently has been trying to chew on the cloth head supports on his swing and he has been drooling a little. He used to not like his pacifier and he needs it all the time now and even seems to chew on it instead of sucking on it. Has anyone had a baby who started to teeth so soon? Thanks!

What can I do next?

All three of my children got their first tooth around 3 months. The thing that worked best for me is a vibrating teether. Every time the baby bites it vibrates and massages the gums. Plus if you need to you can put it in the fridge so that it's cold as well.

My daughter started teething right before she turned 2 months, so I know what you are going thru. Just as she started sleeping through the night, she started waking up because her teeth would hurt her. Is your son doing that?

Both of my girls started teething what all the books would say is "early". He might not be teething, but his teeth might be shifting, either way it's ok. Try getting a couple of pacifer's that he likes now, and keep a couple of them in the freezer. When he get's crankier than normal, take one out and give it to him. The coolness will help sooth him. Also listen to your mom, she must know something, you made it ok, right?? Also don't go right by any "baby books" to the "T" because you will go CRAZY!! To me those books where a guideline, but not every kid is the same.

Hello, my son had already had two teeth by the time he was 6months old and he got all his others very quickly after I believe he had all but his two year old molers by the time he was one. Its hard sometimes but I helped him but getting his mind of it with activitys ect. Tylonal and cold food and pops where our bedfriends and he really didnt go for a teethers which I am glad for becuase there was a story on the news not long ago about the liquid inside them being toxic. Tylonal with docters permission and baby orajel was the cure for my son as well as alot of TLC. Good luck and have patience. GOD BLESS

My daughter had her first tooth appear at 6 weeks, so it's definately possible that he's teething already. It may take quite some time before the tooth is visible, or it may be quick. Like with everything else, each baby is different & does things at his/her own unique pace.

Wow 9 weeks! Of all three children, my earliest tooth popping through was at 4 and a half months. My 6 month old baby just got her first tooth, but she was showing signs of drooling, chewing, about two months. So it may be that the teeth are starting to form inside the gums. I wouldnt expect to see the tooth itself but its probably working its way up through. I wouldnt be using orajel myself this early but certainly those cold chewy teethers are just great. Watch the drool increase and for diaper rashes for more signs. Sassy toys make great teether bears too.

Hi M.,
My little bean is almost 8 months and she just started teething. I found a homeopathic med that is helping out wonderfully! It is "Camilia" by "Boiron". It is an affordable remedy that does not contain paraben or any other petroleum based ingredients. I think that is important anyway but especially because your Babe is so young.
Also, putting teethers in the freezer and the cold face cloth idea works well.
Much Luck!

I read that some babies begin teething as early as 3 months. In my experience, the drooling can go on for over a month before the tooth pops through...so it's quite possible your little one is teething even though he's so young. Keep in mind they also like to chew a lot when they have belly trouble (Gas, stubborn poop...) and drool as a side effect to the chewing (because they produce saliva and don't swallow it). Hope this helps :)
