my daughter just turned 5 months old.
lately shes been really grumpy, she usually sleeps through the night but for the past 2-5 days shes been waking up 2-4 times durnig the night. shes also been drooling alot, barely eating, pulling at her ear, & like i said real cranky. some days she naps for 2-3 hours and other days shell take a cat na.
is there something wrong with her? im afraid she might have an ear infection or is it just teething?

What can I do next?

It probably is just teeth. Could be an ear infection too though, those sometimes go hand in hand with teething. I never knew with my daughter but one time when she had an ear infection; she never ran fever and was always a weird sleeper. If she is pulling at her ear and barely eating I would def. take her to the dr. to make sure of no infection period (sinus or ear).

Dear W., I would say teething but at her age are you seeing the doctor monthly? Ask..... or have her checked.....Grandma Mary

I would definitely take her to the dr. and make sure it's not an ear infection. My daughter had an ear infection without a runny nose and no fever. The only way i knew to take her is she was able to tell me her ear hurt.
For teething though, try Gentle Naturals Homeopathic Teething Drops by Disney Baby found on Target.com although some Target stores do carry them. Completely natural and works great.

If she is tugging both ears, has no runny nose then is it most likely teething. If it is just one ear and she has a runny nose then it's got to be an ear infection. Call the doctor just to be safe! Mention all symptoms and ask if you should bring her in.

For the teething pain, try Dentinox. It is a topical anesthetic which has no sugar. Dentists use it to numb gums for minor surgeries! But Dentinox is specially formulated for babies. It worked for my son when nothing else would!

Also try frozen pieces of fruit (soft melons, cooked fruits, etc) and put them in a mesh feeding bag (like Nuby) and let her gnaw on them, it will help!

For night time, buy yourself a sling... Baby Bjorn was our choice. Wear her around the house, you can safely sit in a recliner or even lie on your side while wearing it and sleep with her, plus it frees up your hands.

Just try to be understanding, it's got to be so sore for her and she doesn't know why it's happening! Lots of love and she'll feel safe and secure!

For ear pain relief, this really works (I wouldn't try it until we were out of state on a Friday evening and my daughter was screaming with ear pain, age 5).

Chop a clove of garlic in a tablespoon of olive oil. Heat it (microwave, stove). Let it cool to slightly warm (like milk on your inside wrist). Put a few drops in her ear. Repeat every hour.

Could be one or the other or both! I felt that whenever there was teething, there was sickness too and it was one of those things that other mothers agreed with me on, but doctors swore there was no correlation...with that being said, wouldn't hurt to have the pediatrician take a look at her and tell you what they think. My first thought when I read your post was that it sounds like an ear infection or some kind of sickness, but I am not the one to say over the computer. ; ) Either way I hope she's ok!
