I think it is absolutely possible. I took my oldest daughter to the ER when she was the same age. She was in obvious pain and nothing helped. I told the ER doc that she seemed to be showing signs of teething and asked if it was possible. He basically laughed at me and said it was way too early. A week later, she had 2 teeth! One other thing to watch would be a possible ear infection. Sometimes the symptoms are similar! Good luck!

Yes my daughter got her first 2 teeth at right around 4 months. I would say she started teething though around 3 months.

i thought the same thing was happening with my son at that same age. he's now almost 4 months old and still does the same chewing on his hands, lots of drooling, and a little more crying than he used to -- but still no teeth. growing pains maybe?

My Daughter cut her first two teeth when she was 3 1/2 months. began Teething about 3 months. So I do not think it is too early. Good luck!

Yes though not common. There is a wide age range when it can happen. There have also been children born with teeth. My child did around 4 or 5 months and one didn't until about 11 months.

Hi C.
i would say it is unlikely your son is teething, but it is possaible. I would take him to the dr to see if he has a ear infection my son would want to suck more when he had a ear infection. :) T.

I think an 11-wk-old can get teeth. That's probably the earliest they come. But it sounds like he may be. Or maybe he's just hungry. He's not sucking? Just chewing? Good luck!

Hi C.,
I also have a three month old son and I think that he is teething already.. My daughter started early too and her first tooth did not come until she was six months old.. Babies can start teething up to three months before their first tooth pops through! My son is already drooling excessively and also chewing on his hands a lot... Don't be surprised if your son starts coughing a bit too. This is no cause for alarm as they have a lot of extra saliva if they are actually teething... For our daughter we would freeze a wet washcloth and let her suck on it.... Good luck!

Both of my sons had gotten their teeth very early. I can't remember when it started, but they had all their teeth by their 1 year well visit. When they did get them they came two or sometimes 4 at a time. I would say anything is possible. Try giving him a cold damp washcloth to chew on and see if he gets any relief from that. It's possible it is something else too so look at all your options.

I know it sound strange, but my son started teething at about that age. He had ALL of his teeth by 14 months - including his 2 year molars. It was a pain at the time (no sleep!!) but looking back I am glad that they all came at once. Good Luck!!

My sons were both teething at that point. They both popped their first teeth right around the 6 month mark, but went through ups and downs of teething for MONTHS before getting theirs through. They seemed to feel worse when the teeth were shifting in their gums, not when the teeth were trying to break through.

Yes. Babies can even be born with teeth. It's rare, but it happens. My son started teething really early, and had his first tooth at 3 months after 2 months of teething pain.

My first son cut two teeth before he was 5mo.old, but I would say the teething process started around 3 mo. with the chewing and crankiness. For some babies teething can be a longer process as the teeth work their way through the gums. Keep an eye on it and watch for other symptoms (like a fever) since sometimes other things like an ear infection can look like teething.

I have to say that chewing on things and being cranky are very normal baby activities. I would think teething might be a little early but it is possible. You may just have a very orally fixated baby. My daughter was born with blisters on her hands from sucking on them. She always has something in her mouth. If you dont have a pacifier, maybe you should think about it.

Although it is possible, it is more likely that his teeth are "moving around" up in his gums...they can kind of move down a little, then back up, etc, months before they actually appear. This is what happened with my son...and it happened with my husband and his siblings when they were babies.

My daughter was the same way. I think she was born teething. lol Anyway her doctor said it was too early to be teething at her 2 month check up. But she was in fact teething. At 3 months she had her first 2 teeth. And they just keep coming. She will be 14 months in 2 days and has almost all of her teeth. The thing that gets me is how much drool there is while teething. I'd make sure to have some baby tylenol and baby orajel.

My son began teething (drooling/chewing on everything) around 2 months. Dr said it is unusual, but not unheard of. He broke his first 2 teeth within a week of each other at 4 months. About the ear infection, my Dr told me that if he's not running a fever, it's probably not an ear infection. So, you may want to place a call to your Dr before going and see what they say. (I did & saved on the co-pay!!)

My son had 7 teeth at 6 months and my daughter had 5. Both have their 2 year molers by their first birthday. At 11 weeks I would say from my experience that he might be getting teeth, however they are most likely not breaking yet. The hardest time seems to be before the teeth actually break. Good luck!

My 1st instinct would be that the little guy is still hungry. Have you tried feeding him a little more or a little more often to see if that stops the chewing on yours and his hands?

Just a thought -- good luck :-)

yes! some babies are even born with teeth! but teeth actually go up and down for awhile before they actually break through. i thought both of my kids were going to pop teeth at 3 months, but they both got their first months later. it just takes a long time for those teeth to be ready! likely they are just moving up and down!

It could be that he is either telling you he is hungry, he could have a tummy ache, or he could be trying to figure out what those little fingers are:) It is not unheard of to teeth that early. There are babies who have teeth when they are born, but usually it is more like around 7 months before you see the first teeth. I would guess he is hungry or gassy, but I can't say that for sure. Hope you find out what's bugging him.
