My son will be 9 months old on Friday and he has no teeth, nor any signs of them coming in. I was just curious as to what age your baby boys were when they got their first tooth. I'm interested more about boys because I've heard that they typically teethe later than girls do. I've also heard that the later they get their teeth...the better. We've had many times where he's been cranky for a few nights so we think that he's teething....finally. Then no teeth appear. We know he'll get them eventually. I'm just curious!
Thank you to everyone for your responses! Well...10.5 months and a tooth FINALLY popped through! I've been perplexed because he never had the classic symptoms like drooling or irritability, etc. He had some nights where he wouldn't sleep good, but that was nothing out the the ordinary. He sort of lost his appetite about a week before the tooth popped through, so that was probably a sign. Now that I think back, his gums were bulging for quite some time too. I guess every baby is different and they all handle the pain in their own way! Now I know what to expect. Sometimes being a first time mom is so confusing!! Thanks again!
A little piece of advice? Usually the longer you have to wait for the teeth of pop out, and later pull, typically means more healthier teeth down the road because they are stronger.
personally i don't think its true about the boy/girl thing, because my son got his teeth very early. His first 2 came in at 4 months and by 18 months, he had them all! My daughter was almost 8 months before she got her first two, and that was after 4 months of "teething" with the drooling and all that good stuff. She's now 10 months and she just got 4 teeth all at once over the last week. I was concerned about her teeth coming in late, and when i asked the doctor about it, he said "have you ever seen a 2 year old without teeth?" So I wouldn't worry. They'll come in soon enough, and chances are that he will get a few all at once. Be prepared, there will be fevers and fussiness, good luck!!!
all babies get them @ different ages...they will come! My son got hi first 2 @ 4 months, but my daughters were later. It's actually better if he gets his teeth later. Most doctors say the teeth will be healthier.
Take him to a pedi dentist, and they can tell you when he will get them. It is unusual for it to be this late, but I've heard of it taking until they are 1 yr. but they can't eat solid food, maybe that is better.
I don't know though because my daughter was 11 and a half months old before she got her first tooth. She was teething for SIX MONTHS before I really saw any results. It would start to poke out then I wouldn't see or even feel it anymore. Nothing to worry about, your son will eventually catch up
well I just had to say something because it is my GIRL that is 10 months with no teeth in sight! My son got his first tooth at 4 months 4! And I am baffled at the difference although I hear its "normal". About the later the healthier, I took my 2 year old to the dentist (he has 20 teeth) and she said its because they keep the back teeth till they are about 12 years old and the longer they are in the mouth the more likely to get cavities, plus the younger the child the harder to clean properly. Luckily my son has really good spaceing and she says its very rare to see cavities in children with gaps between teeth (no need to floss either).So, Just thought put that out there, its my girl thats WAY behind her brother in the tooth department! My son is was 11 months when he got his first tooth. He had been drooling and chewing on everything since 4 months old. I kept thinking one was going to come it but nothing showed. Then at 11 months he got the top left middle one. Not the typical bottom two. In about a month and a half he has gotten 3 more in random spots. I have heard the same about them being helthier the later they arrive. My advice is start to brush his gums now as a routine before bed. Then when those teeth do pop in he will be able to keep them nice and white.
I wouldnt worry to much, my son only had like 3 or 4 teeth at 12 months, and then all of a sudden he started getting them in at like 3 or 4 at a time. Made for a cranky few months, but tylenol was a big help. If your really worried, you can call your DR. but mine told me not to worry they would get there when they got there.
My son is now 10months but he got his 1st tooth at 6 months and the 2nd one at about 7 months but since then, we've been at a stand still. I keep thinking that he's gonna get another one but nothing ever shows up. I've heard some people say that there kids didn't get teeth until 1 year old and then they started showing up one after another. I guess every kid is different, but I've also know kids who have had 3 to 5 teeth by the time they are one years old. It's all a matter of time. Your son is at the perfect age to start eating more table foods like mashed taters and stuff like that. You might try giving him the hard baby toast. That might help a tooth to cut through the gums. My son loves it.
My son is almost 10mo old and he still doesn't have teeth. I've also heard that the later they come in the better. I know I got my teeth really early and they are very soft and cavity-prone so I'm hoping his teeth will be stronger since they are taking so long to come in.
my children were all different. one had five teeth by six months, the other had two at seven months. my 9 month old baby has three teeth on the bottom that he JUST got. Pretty much all at once. He started showing signs of tething at three months but NO teeth till about two weeks ago. I'm sure your's will get a tooth soon...you know they have to come sooner or later...no worries :)
Neither of my kids really had painful teething. If they did, they didn't let on to it. They both started getting theirs about 7-10 months. But I knew of a couple kids that hadn't gotten any teeth and had turned one! If he is gnawing on stuff, my kids chewed on their fingers, toys, etc, that might be a sign that he's trying to break the teeth through. Who knows...kids are tricky little things. If he does seem bothered, give him a frozen teether or some tylenol/orajel. Good luck, they will be in before you know it and he will look like a big boy! :( They grow so fast. My son is 14 months old and still only has two teeth! He got them at 11 months. It drives me nuts, because I know there are a lot of foods he want's to eat but can't because he can't chew! Oh well. Patience is a virtue, but it is hard watching all the other babies with teeth.
Our son had no teeth at all until he was 11 months old. Then four came in at once! Our pediatrician said that it was totally normal and nothing to worry about, so enjoy that little toothless grin! :)
My son was 15 months old and my daughter was 4 months old. I think that it varies with all kids because my nephew was 6 months old when he got his first tooth and my niece was 9 months old. They'll come don't worry.
It's suppose to be different ages for teeth. My son just turned 6 months and has had a tooth for almost 2 weeks now. You could always ask his doctor about it at his next appt.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with the sex of the child it all is individual my daughter didn't hers til she was 9 months and that was only one and she still doesn't have her 2yo molars but the good news is that even when she only had her front teeth (until she was 15mo) she could still eat most solid foods including chicken she just couldn't eat raw veggies like carrots but that still is the case and no steak:) hang inthere your little guy will get his teeth.

My oldest son who is almost 6, didn't have any teeth when he turned a year! Soon after, he got most about the same time and in a weird order. He really looked like a jack-o-lantern for a while and YES, it was easy. I don't remember him complaining AT ALL! Hopefully, you will be as lucky!
