Have you tried the rice, apple sauce/juice,banana diet? That always seemed to calm my son's tummy. Hope it helps.
My 7 month old son is getting his third tooth. His teething is horrible. A really bad runny nose, diarehha, and he throws up. he did this with his first two teeth and I was freaked out. then the tooth would cut though and my happy healthy baby was back. He is going through about 15 diapers a day and at least 4 outfits. My other kids would run a low fever and get moody, but nothing like this. My question is, have other moms seen teething like this, should I take hime to the dr. and is there anthing I can do to help him out. I do give him orajel but is there anything to help the diarehha? Thanks.

You should absolutely call the dr, just to be sure that he doesn't have anything else. First & foremost you need to replinish his electrolytes that he is losing from the Diarreha, you need to go & get him some Pedi-lyte & that should help with what ever he is losing & not become dehydrated. There is something I know that you can get Immodium for kids/infants, but call your DR First. Have you tried frozen popsicles / frozen fruit bars, something that will numb it as he or you rub it around on it & he can bite into it or those numby baby teethers that you freeze those work well too.
A friend of mine just went through the same thing with her daughter. She thought she had the stomach flu but the next day she realized her first tooth had broken through. As long as you keep him hydrated I wouldn't worry or take him to the Dr. I would recommend giving him probiotics or if you are breastfeeding you can take it and it will be passed on to him. Probiotics are healthy bacteria that are need in our guts. When we have the stomach flu or on antibiotics we lose good and bad bacteria in our stomachs leaving it vulnerable. Probiotics should be taken daily to strengthen our digestive systems. I would also recommend Hylands teething tabs which you can buy at any drug store. They are all natural homeopathic remedey that you can't overdose on. It will help soothe pain, fussiness, etc. You can also buy a mesh feeder from Target and put cold/frozen fruit inside. The cold will soothe his gums and you won't have to worry about him choking because it is inside the feeder.
Get him some pedialite Popsicles. It will help keep him hydrated and they are obviously cold, so they will help sooth his sore gums. Also, have you tried Motrin, or Tylenol, and/or Hyland's Teething Tablets. You can get the tablets at any drug store or Walmart. They are amazing and homeopathic. They dissolve quickly under their tongue. As soon as I say "Teething Tablet," my son opens his mouth for some.
I highly suggest homeopathic remedies. They helped my son with teething, colic and skin warts (which were weird). Health food stores carry several things which might help, but since your child's teething is so severe, I would suggest seeking out a professional "classical" homeopath. Don't be discouraged with homeopathics if what you try in the store doesn't work. Homeopaths look at the whole child and not just the teething symptoms. They then recommend what is called a "constitutional remedy". This remedy fits your child's symptoms, history, genetics (which they call myisms) and personality. If you've never looked into it, it seems strange at first. I've now read 3 books and feel very confident in treating my family for first aid type illnesses. For allergies, skin disorders and more serious illnesses, it is best to go to a homeopath. The first visit is a bit expensive (around $200?), but the remedy is cheap (around $10) and the follow up visit(s) should be at least cut in half. I prefer a homeopath who is reachable by phone or email and responds relatively quickly as there can be a short peroid of time inwhich your child may experience a side effect (called an aggrevation). Good luck and I hope this gives you a new avenue to persue.
Oh you poor dear. My second baby is just like that. She also gets a temp as high as 104 when she is teething. I do not give her orajel. We use the Hylands Homeopathic teething tablets. These work really well. For the runs boil some rice and put some of the water from the rice pot in a bottle. Natural rice water gets rid of diarrhea faster then you can ever imagine and it is safe for the baby.
Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions.

Hi C. ~
Try Hylands homeopathic teething gel and teething tablets (they dissolve easily in the mouth and taste good). This product is safe, supportive and will provide relief.
Hope this helps,

Oh I hear ya!! Orajel did awful things to my little guy. More drool, more puking more WET!! I quickly switched to Hylands and it was MUCH better. Hylands is a homeopathic remedy. All natural no side effects! They have teething gel that you massage on the gums or teething tablets that dissolve instantly. I preferred the tablets as my son would not tolerate me touching his mouth let alone massaging his sore gums. My prayers are with you!!

all the suggestion from the other moms are great. One additional bit of info that I'd like to throw into the ring is to be careful with your usage of the Baby Orajel. My father is a retired dentist and he's always advocated uses of the popsicles, teething tablets and Infant Tylenol first. If you are going to use the orajel, please be judicious with it. If it gets into the back of the baby's throat it could compromise his gag reflex.
Call your doctor to see if he/she would like to see your son. I learned early not to worry about inconveniencing the doctor.
i have not had any teething issues but the diahrrea is a problem. You have to be sure he does not get dehydrated. 15 diapers a day is alot of fluid loss. I have heard of people freezing bagels and letting the child suck on it, pedialite makes popsicles and that would probably be really soothing on the gums and help with dehydration. call your doctor and ask if there is a prescription you can give him for the pain. poor little guy sounds like he is in alot of pain. good luck
Poor little guy. I have a tip for the diarrehea that you may have heard of already... the B.R.A.T. diet - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. Push any or all of these foods. It works.
And I don't know if your son is eating any solids yet, but try to avoid dairy. Our doctor told us recently that fever (which can be associated with teething) can bring on temporary lactose intolerance, which just causes more diarrehea.
Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
Pleae watch out for dehydration with all that throwing up and soiling his clothes. Also make sure he's not having a reaction to a vaccination. Have you done them lately?
If you have vaccined lately, take him to the doctor and tell him/her that you think he may be having a reaction and have him checked. Also get electrolites (they have natural ones, too, which are better for your son).
By the way, the foot patches below are good for colds or any sickness, as they cleanse out toxins and help circulation, so they speed along recovery, helping the cold/illness cleanse the body. There are many kinds, so check out the website to see what you need (green or gold would be my suggestion).
You can also try foot patches to suck out the toxins, along with homeopathics for teething, vomiting, diareha, etc. Try a Highlands Kids kit via http://www.vitacost.com/Hylands-Kids-Kit (best price), plus order a "Teething" homeopathic bottle. Give him Arnica (for pain) out of your kids kit, as well as chamomile (calming, helps him sleep/relax), as well as the ones for diarheah and vomiting (don't worry about doing too many, as you can't overdose with homeopathics).
I get my foot patches at (best price you'll find): http://www.healthmarvels.net/order.php or their new store at https://www.healthmarvelsdetoxpatch.com/store/home.php?xi...; and you can email them at ____@____.com more info. on teething, see my friend's book, which you can get via Amazon.com, "The Complete Teething Guide: From Birth to Adolescence" (Paperback, get it via: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Teething-Guide-Birth-Adole...
Good luck!

Going to the doctor will give you peace of mind and then you can make sure it's just a teething issue.
My daughter is teething right now also so I somewhat feel your pain. For the diarrhea I would give him pedialyte because you want to make sure he is hydrated. If he gets dehydrated you are going to have a bigger problem. I recommend the tablets for his teething and of course tylenol. I'm a first time mother, and if my baby was this bad with her teething I would have taken her into the doctor just to make sure nothing else was going on!
