Terrible Morning Sickness plus Two Toddlers :/

Good morning mama world,
I am now 7.5 weeks pregnant with #3. We have a 2y9m and a 15m old sons. They really are good boys, but I have been having horrible morning (all day) sickness. I gag, almost vomit, when they have stinky diapers. I don't really like having an audience while my face is in the toilet a few times a day, either... Doing dishes makes me sick, and its even hard to feed them snacks and lunch!! Oh, and we can't really get out and about because my husband has been using my car to commute to work lately...

How have other moms dealt with being terribly nauseated and caring for L. ones by themselves all day?

What can I do next?

I was like that for all 9 months with my first and not quite as long with my second. I just made sure I had a trash can or something I could puck in very close. I got tired of runnig to the bathroom. Of corse I worked full time too and that was interesting. I tired to learn what things I could do to try to not do it as much. But for the most part it did not work. There is some nausia meds out now that I am thinking you might beable to take. It's called Zofran. It is wonderful!!!!!!!!!! I would ask your dr about it. It even helps with the gag reflex.

Good luck and God Bless!

When you see your doctor ask if he/she can check your progesterone levels just to insure they are high enough. This can be a contributor.

I was sick with all of mine until the 3rd-4th month. I know how you feel. It's very discouraging trying to deal with changing hormones, babies/kids/, food, diapers, laundry, etc. I used to lay in the floor of the kids room with a gate up so they stayed safe and think about how I was going to fix lunch with the smell of food and even the thought of it. It was during these sick times that I kept thinking I can't cope with another one and everything seemed overwhelming but as soon as it goes away you'll be able to deal with it all again. I just let many things go during the sickness times due to not being able to do it so that also gets you discouraged. Just go a day at a time and it will end soon hopefully. Well, not soon to you but in 1-2 months hopefully. Have you asked your doctor about that drug they use now for sickness, Zofran I think is the name of it. One of our daughters had severe morning sickness and it helped her more than anything else did. But she was severe so I wouldn't recommend anything unless you just can't make it without something. When I had my kids there was no Zofran so I took nothing. I also was like you and had no car as we only had one so it might, might not, help you if you could get out and just walk a L. in the fresh air with the kids in stroller or something.

Maybe you're having a girl.

I agree with other posts. Eat a saltine cracker when you feel sick helps. Another mom said Ritz crackers worked for her.

Do you have a network of close friends/family around. Could anyone help you? Maybe they could stroll your boys to the park with lunch while you got rest.

Oh I was so sick with all of my pregnancies and it always started later than most woman (about 11 weeks) and lasted until around 6.5 or 7 months, so I really feel for you!
Do not feel guilty...that would be my best advice.
Do not feel guilty if you can't do everything you think you "should" be doing! It is okay to spend a couple of months snuggled on the couch watching movies, or letting them quietly color next to you, or play toys. You need to rest and relax, and feeling bad about what you aren't doing always makes the nausea worse!
I agree with the other moms..ginger foods, and sugary cereals were my best friends for those months!
I also tried some motion sickness wrist bands which had been recommended to me by a nurse, and they really did help!

I hope this passes quickly and you feel much better soon!!

Been there done that :(. You have some good suggestions...I just had to keep telling myself, "This will pass...". I had to take it day by day...it was soo not fun :(. Another thing you could consider (I haven't read all the responses...maybe someone mentioned this already). You could hire a 10-12 year old girl to come and play with your boys for a few hours here and there...I know it's not much compared the 18+ waking hours of motherhood...but sometimes it helps! The other thing that really helped me...was making sure I was getting PLENTY sleep. I was getting 9 hours at night...and could still take a 2 hour nap during the day. When (if?) they nap...sleep...don't try to do any cleaning. To heck with being productive...you're making a baby...you're already being way more productive than the average person! My dad (lovingly :p) got me a towel during one of my pregnancies that said, "A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen...and this kitchen is delirious!" :) I'm just barely getting over my morning sickness now (16.5 weeks)...but most women that I know are over the worst of it by 10 weeks or so. Hopefully not too much longer for you!! Good luck!

My advice is to keep your stomach always "stable" by eating very small portions of dry food every so often. I munched on crackers (like one or two, not more than that) before the nausea would increase to the point I would vomit. It really helped.Limit bulky food and drin plenty of water when you feel well to compensate those times when you don't. Your bowel will thank you!
Good luck!

I had a 5yo who turned 6 while I was pregnant with my second. With both pregnancies I was horribly sick the entire time. I was in and out of the hospital for dehydration, and ended up on bedrest for the last few months because of preterm labor with my first and second pregnancy. I had other complications as well.

My son was older than your two, and he ended up taking care of me much of the time, which made me feel awful. We watch a lot of movies together, worked on puzzles, read books, played legos, etc. All the time I was having to stop to throw up frequently. I felt like a horrible mom. I was working as a high school teacher until I was put on bedrest. It was really a horrible time. You just have to do the best you can, and know that you'll get through it. Now my boys are 7 and 14, and now my oldest mentions those days fondly because of the time we spent together. Go figure.

I tried phenergan, zofran, ginger, crackers, everything anyone suggested, but nothing worked for me. I hope you find something that works for you, and that by the second trimester you're feeling great! :)

Ginger chews and saltines. I lived on both for both of my pregnancies. Good luck!
