ThanSpotting/cramping At 5-6 Weeks

Hi there. I am just 6 weeks pregnant with my third child. My first two are 3.5 and 5 and I don't recall having any spotting issues with them. First, two days before I got a positive pregnancy test I had light pink spotting with light cramping for three days. I guessed this was implantation. An early ultrasound showed a normal uterine pregnancy sac and yolk. Around 11 on Saturday night i noticed some watery bright pinkish spotting upon wiping. This has continued on and off since. Nothing even in a pad just when I wipe. It seemed to be getting better with just a tiny tiny amount this morning and nothing since but then tonite I had a larger swipe of mucousy brownish discharge. With this I feel very achey thru my entire lower back and abdomen (not just the uterus area) especially on the sides. I went into have my HCG levels tested today but have to wait another 48 hours for another draw before I can get results. Of course I am worried. I don't think I guess that I can really prevent anything from happening but I would like to know if other women have experienced this what the outcome had been?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for sharing your stories with me and helping me thru a difficult week. I am so happy and relieved to report that an US this morning showed a perfectly healthy pregnancy and a strong fetal heartbeat :) YAY!

I've had bleeding with 3 of my 4 pregnancies - 2 of those I had bleeding on an off the entire time, 2 healthy baby girls, the 3rd ended in a miscarriage at 12 weeks. You really can't control the outcome, it is what it is - I hate to say it. Don't stress out, it doen't help anything. My 4th pregnancy I had horrible cramping like what you describe, I felt as bad as my period cramps - they were my whole stomach, back, in my groin and down in my legs - I almost felt like it was a miscarriage and I continually was looking for bleeding everytime I went to the bathroom, but I guess it was all normal. Good luck to you, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey J.: I would not worry yet. When I lost my first one, I had cramping and really bright red bleeding. Very different from you!

Brown is good, as far as spotting goes. It's old blood. As long as it's not getting heavier and brighter red - progressively - it's a good sign that things are fine.

I spotted at 7 and 12 weeks with my son, for an entire week. Healthy 3.5 yr old today!

I was told when i started bleeding at 11 weeks not to worry. That unless there was cramping chances were the baby was fine. But upon cramping I went to the E.R. to get it checked out. I did loose that pregnancy and had actually lost it weeks earlier without knowing. Hope all turns out well for you, but cramping is not a good sign.

I spotted for three month and the child was fine. My daughter spotted and she told me in worried tones. I said I'd spotted with her nothing to worry about.
I did not know I had a fibroid. She knew she had one. Her son is growing up just fine.

There is nothing to do to prevent anything from happening. I remember a nurse telling me this several times, and it didn't feel helpful at all at the time :-)

I'm sure you'll hear from several women who experienced bleeding during early pregnancy and everything came out fine. That wasn't my experience. I had two early miscarriages and your description sounds just like my second one. We had actually seen the heartbeat on an US a few days before I started bleeding. I clearly remember the all-over cramping feeling. Then within just a couple of days, I miscarried.

You'll be alright whatever the outcome. Take care!

I had similar spotting last March, at about six weeks along. I did not have cramps. But, the spotting turned bright red. Still, the u/s was normal but my hcg levels were not so good. It was horrible waiting for those results!! I ended up losing the pregnancy and the cramps at that point were horrendous. It was sad, but there was nothing I could do. I ended up getting pregnant two months later, and now am 30 weeks along with a healthy baby due in February. Best of luck to you, and if you were ttc, don't let this get you down.
