My daughter had issues with this as a toddler. The one time I let someone outside the family babysit, she was exposed to the virus. She had to have several warts burned off and it was horrible. I went to a second dermatologist, because I refused to believe that burning them off with acid was the only solution. A study had just come out about the use of cimitidine (I think that's it) and the virus. Tagamet wasn't available over the counter at the time, so I'm not sure if the OTC strength will work, but ask your doctor about it. The first dermatologist thought it was nonsense, but I know we never had any more warts burned off with acid and my 12 year old doesn't have the warts anymore, so anyone can do the math.

Wow! It seems like your daughter has a persistent wart issue. I would recommend seeing another dermatologist. My friend's daughter had somehting similar and saw one of the specialist at Duke which has cleared it. She also got a rounc of heavy antibiotics to go along with it. It sounds like your current practioner is not adequate to take care of this.

Juli- We had a similar situation in our house. My kid's had what you call molluscum- not hard a scaly like other warts but in the same family. They spread virally so even though we burned them off, they kept coming back. Finally I read about Melaleuca oil ( also known as tea tree oil) being effective in treating molluscum because it actually attacks the virus. Since it is very penetrating it would take the anti viral oil deep into the tissue. Other things just sit on the surface. You can find it at a health food store. I started ordering products from a company called Melaleuca about seven months ago. Several of their personal care products contain the oil. Since then, the molluscum have cleared up ( except for a large one on my son's neck that we thought was something else.) Other than that large one, we have not had to be treated again. It makes sense too becuase you can burn off the warts but still have the virus in your system. The oil helps destry the virus. It may be worth a try. My children have been going to an chiropractor/accupuncturist since my son was 1 1/2 he is now 11. Both my children have rarely been sick and have not been on antibiotics since we started going to them. I have been applying liquid garlic to the site of my warts (a small dab, perhaps Q-tip applied for chiid). You need to get you some Tea Tree Oil. It is a natural antiseptic and can work wonders. Just apply twice daily, band aid covered prefered, but if not, just put on in the AM and the PM.

Hi there, I would try a product called Lauricidin. It is a natural anti-viral, anti-microbial, derived from coconut. Call Jeff at Total Health Nutrition Center in Raleigh. It is also a good product to ward off colds and flu. I even give it to my Four year old. He had a couple warts...one on his toe, and one on his finger. After a week of about 10 pellets of Lauriciden, they disappeared. Hope this helps!

My daughter also had warts. During the summer she was always out on the farm with her father, helping with the tobacco and garden. She was six years old at the time and one of the jobs she helped with was sticking and tying the tomatoes. While working with the vines of the tomatoes, we noticed a decrease in the warts. Her father was the first to mention the tomatoes when we were trying to decide what was making her warts go away. Then I remembered rubbing green tomatoes on warts and that finished the job. She had a friend who had the same problem. Her mother called me to see what we had done for my daughter as she had her's frozen to only return. I recommended the green tomato use which she tried with complete success and the warts never returned on either child's hands.

My daughter had some when she was young and we had them removed and they came back so I read this book call the Yeast Connection and it said to take her off sugar so I did completely for a year and they left and never came back and she is 17 now. Get that book.

This will sound off the wall, but it worked for 2 of my kids who had warts for years. There is a medication over the counter that is for treating ulcers. It is called cimetidine, Brand name Tagamet, although we used the store brand. Look it up on Wikipedia and it mentions the wart effect. The kids were younger and our doctor told me he had actually seen this work. They took it twice a day and the warts were gone within a month and have not come back. The doctor said it might take up to 3 months. He also had no idea how it worked. The speculation was that it somehow changed body chemistry so that the warts could not grow. I had plantar warts on my foot for over 15 years and they also left and haven't been back. You may want to talk to your doctor about her taking this medication. We tried everything else for over a year before this worked.

This is going to sound so crazy...but...when I was a teenager I had the same problem and I went through so many "freezes" and "burns" with nothing to show but scars. The only thing that worked for me was an old wives tale that I heard...tell your daaughter to "steal" a rag or towel from someone (she absolutly CANNOT tell the person that she takes the rag from), then wash her hands with it and bury it at the back door. Honest to God I did this and I never had to go back to the docotr. I am 30 now and still have never had another wart. If she takes one of your rags she can't tell you so if she clears up, don't ask any questions!! Or if you see fresh dirt at the back door!! :)

My 11 year old had that same problem, our nurse at our F.P. stopped us and asked what kind of stress she was under. We were getting ready to move out of state and she was to spend 4 weeks with her biological father. The warts popped up almost over night when we told her. Our doctor gave us CIMETIDINE for stomach acid that was aggrivating the virus. Also put castor oil on them at bed time. It worked for us. You could also use over the counter Tagament for the stomach acid. My sister is a Pharm. and said it would be better for her because of her age.

I suffered with this as a child myself. Had them removed 6 times by a Dr. Then we used a vitamin combo of A,E,and D
The brand we used was called Tri-Vi-Sol. They got smaller and smaller and went away forever!

My husband and I watched a program on Discovery Health Channel about a guy who had warts developing all over his body. The doctors in his country couldn't figured out how to get rid of them and keep them away. Dr. Gaspari figured out that his immune system had a weakness to the virus. Maybe her immune system should be looked at. Maybe you could contact Dr. Anthony Gaspari, a specialist in immunology and skin allergies at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore. My nephew had the same problem, except it was around his knees. It was a viral infection and he had to be put on medication, but it cleared it up. Maybe try talking to a dermatologist about the possiblity of it being a viral infection. Hope this helps.

If you are talking about Moluscum Contagiousum, I am familiar with the virus. It is very common in children and some drs are beginning to prescribe Tagament. A medication used to treat upper GI issues. They have found that this medication wakes up the T-cells in the child's body so that the immune system can recognize the virus as something that it needs to fight off.

I don't know if this will work for the types of warts your dealing with, but I had warts on one of my hands and forearms, and couldn't get rid of them either. A friend suggested using duct tape. I thought it was crazy, but began putting duct tape on my hand at night and my arm too. I dont' remember how long it took, but it did clear them up. Don't know if you'd want to try it with the ones on her face, but would probably definatly help the ones on her hands.

when i was a child i had warts on my hands too.....it sounds crazy....but the dermatologist told me to soak my hands in water as hot as I could stand it 2 times a day for about 20-30 minutes each time.....i remember my mom getting a big old pot and i would sit in front of the TV and soak my hands morning and nite, if the water cooled off we'd add more hot tap water....eventually they dried up and went away (I can't remember if they fell off or just disappeared) but it worked and i've never had one sense.....hope this helps

I vaguely remember having a similar problem when I was that age. The dermatologist prescribed a vitamin dose. Since it was so long ago I can't remember which vitamin, but I do remember it worked like a miracle and cleared everything up! Maybe you can do some research, it was possibly vitamin A,D or E.

Hey! I work for a dermatologist in Brentwood. Your daughter will always have this virus, but you can get rid of the warts. There are other treatments such as laser, creams, injections, and just cutting them off. If I can help any further, I would be happy to and good luck. =D

J. my daughter had them when she was younger and they told us tot ake her the dermatlogist and they froze them and took them off,and they didnt come back they are gone!! So they will go away!! Just hang in there J.!!! Debbie

Maybe you should make an appointment with a dermitolagist.

You might want to look and see if there is a homeopathic practioner or dr. in your area. Homeopathy is a great way to treat warts and it should not hurt.

I had 13 on one hand and 15 on the other burnt off when I was a teenager. I am much older now and have had no reoccuring warts. I was told every wives-tale imaginable, and I think that I have heard them all. The thing that I finally tried and worked was very simple....it was something to do with potasium or the lack of. So I ate lots of bananna's.

My granddaughter has warts too. Moluscum is what she says they are. She is 5. My daughter has taken her to 3 different derm docs. Then, she read on line that tea tree oil works, but don't put it on the face. So, you might try it- get it at a health food store, try it on her hands. My granddaughter's looks much better after a week. I really feel for these kids- what a thing to have to live with. They also told her, to get the seed out.
