My children are 19 months and 4 and a half months. My situation is this we just moved in our house in March and we would like to either stay here when the kids start school or fix up the house and move into a better school district. We live in the Affton school district does anyone know about the school district or know of an even better one for my children?

What can I do next?

I have to say I have been so impressed with the Fox School district. I have a 10 year old son who has Tourettes and ADHD. He has been in the system since before he started school. At this time my boys attend Rockport Heights. The teachers are great, the policies are fair and they have done so much for my oldest son. They have a no bullying policy and no one has ever messed with my son regarding his tics from the Tourettes or made fun of him because of this. He has learned so much and really enjoys learning. I cant say enough good things about the district.

Affton is an excellent district!!!! They also have a well known popular early education program which is a partnership with Lindbergh.

Well, there are some great school districts around here. Some of the home prices in the districts are very expensive. We live in the Ladue school district which is excellent. However, we live in an older home that we've inherited from family and the property taxes are killer. There are some older homes in this area but they can go for $500,000 or more. A new home on my street is between $1 and 2 million. Clayton also has an excellent school district but is very pricey. I'm somewhat new around here but from what I understand Rockwood, Webster Groves, Kirkwood, Brentwood and Parkway are all good districts. I am sure that I'm leaving some out... I honestly know nothing about Affton's school district. I know very little about South County to be honest. Good luck!

hi--
i know that parkway and rockwood have excellent school districts (according to their test scores). i think they are ranked in the top 5 in missouri--i'm not 100% sure though, but my friend is a teacher in parkway's district and she tells me all about it. i have never heard anything negative about afton's school district, though. have you talked to any of the teachers or looked at any of the schools? maybe you would feel better about your decision if you did that. hope this helps a little!--N.

Dear B., My name is T. and my children attend the Affton school district. My children are city transfer students and I couldn't ask for a better district. They transfered there from the Pattonville district also another excellent school district due to school zone chanes. Since I lived in the city on the South side, they were transfered to a South county school. I highly recommend the district as my son just graduated from the district this past June. My youngest started at Gotsch in the 4th grade and she is now in the eighth grade and attends Rogers. My second daughter is a sophmore at the highschool. I highly recommend the district. The parents and staff really take an interest in the kids. And they do alot of activites that are kid orientated through all levels to keep the kids interested in the school. I suggest going to some of the parent meetings and see what you think. They have a good father's and mother's club committiee that are very good. hope this helps. Sincerely, T..
