Hi Ladies. I gave birth one week ago to my second baby boy:) I am nursing and my back is now killing me and I'm guessing it's because of the sudden increase in breast size. I never found a really good nursing bra with my first son, so I need suggestions for the most supportive nursing bras. I have tried Motherhood, Sears and Target bras and have not been really happy with any of them. I was thinking of ordering from Bravado, but wanted to get advice first :)

What can I do next?

I personally think the Medela nursing bras are the best. I ordered mine from the lacatation consultant at University Community Women's Center. I also had a few nuring bras from other places like Target and Motherhood. I ended up throwing them out because they were not supportive. The Medela Bra's are more expensive, but worth every penny. Very supportive and easy to use. I never tried the Bravado so I can't compare; but the write ups look good on it too. Try Amazon.com. They have both and you normally can get free shipping.

I lived in the nursing bras from Motherhood and nursing tanks from Target. The back pain might be from how you are nursing. Is the baby are breast level, or are you having to stoop to feed him? I loved my boppy, when I did not use it, my arms and back killed me. Also, try not to stare down at the baby the whole time, bending your head down strains the neck muscles which also strain the back muscles. It all adds up :)

Best wishes
P.

My favorite nursing bras were from bella materna (www.bellamaterna.com). I nursed my daughter for 19 months and practically lived in them. They are pretty pricey ($55-$75) but are worth every cent!
Congrats to you and your family on your newest addition!

Absolutely the Medela! I recommend the soft cup, rather than underwire, since the underwire can cause problems for breastfeeding moms. I went to St. Joseph's to purchase my bras and to have them fit me for the bras. The woman at the shop was wonderful and my bras fit perfectly. The support is also fantastic.

I originally purchased a few bras at Motherhood Maternity, but ended up throwing them out. They did not fit well and they were underwire. I ended up having problems due to the poor fit and the wire.

Good luck.

Personally, I hated the Bravado's - especially for the price. The best ones I found were at Kohl's. They are often 40% off and around $16. They have both wired and wireless ones without seams. I have no idea why they put seams in nursing bras that go across the nipples..

Leaning forward also may be hurting your back. You might want to try different pillows behind you.

Good Luck!

I live in my Bravado nursing bras. Buy at least two. One to wear the other to wash.
