Tonight, I've been researching the MOM team since it peaked my interest because a number of Moms on Mamasource are reps and have received rave reviews. Also, whenever there is a work-from-home request on this forum, joining the MOM Team is usually recommended. I was a little shocked to see a lot of negative comments out there on the internet about this home/internet-based business. I did go to the MOM Team website to get more information, but it was very vague.
Does the business actually involve promoting Melaleuca products? What exactly is being marketed? How much time and money do you have to invest before you see an ROI? From what I read, reps are "not allowed" to discuss such details. Regardless, I would love to hear from current and past reps out there... I can't believe everything I read on the world wide web. :)
Thank you all who responded! My appreciation goes out to those who took time out of their busy schedules to answer my questions.
I have a clearer picture of what the MOM Team is about from the negative and positive feedback I received (thru private messages). Unlike other home-based businesses where you know up front what they sell or services they offer, the MOM Team is vague in that matter and for a reason... to peak one's interest. It worked. It peaked mine.
If I do decide to leave my corporate career for a direct sales home-based business, I would choose another option like Mary Kay over the MOM Team. Cosmetics weather the economic lows (as well, the company history is very inspiring). Pricey healthy cleaning agents are probably a hard sell in any economic climate. The target market for healthier products is also limited as healthier/organic tend to cost more. Whole Foods, Central Market, anyone?
The MOM Team is... what it is. A direct sales company selling healthy alternatives.
Read the fine lines and do the math before signing up with them. (This, of course, is advice from one of the Mamasource Mom's) I personally would not recommend this business to a SAHM as other Mamasource Mom's have. If you're the MLM-type (Multi-Level Marketing), then it may be for you.
Hope this post is informative to those who have wondered what the MOM team is all about.

I don't know about this particular business but I have been self employed for 15 years and know that MOST of them are a scam. No matter what business it takes a lot of time effort energy and money to start a successful business and any one who promises you will get a high and quick ROI is lying. They are vague on purpose. Anything that requires you to sign up others to make money is not going to make the average person money. You make your money convincing others to sign up like you. There are a a few that are on the up and up like Mary Kay. But still you must work hard full time like any other business to make money. My advice, work at our job, make choices to keep your expenses down and live on what you make. Spend your home time loving your boys and your husband. You don't get these years back. Starting an at home business on top of a full time job rob you of this precious time. And possibly even you marriage. Keep it simple.
I wanted to just say THANK YOU for asking and THANK YOU for your post about it. I have wondered the same exact thing. I have been looking for something like an avon or mary kay but I would only be able to do sales online through e bay. I am not 100% sure if that will work though so I have yet to actually DO IT. :( If you start either Mary Kay or Avon let me know how it goes please. :)
I know someone who works for them & she is constently selling selling selling and doesn't seem to be making anything. When I showed interest in the company I called her & then we got on a 3 way call to someone higher up than her. I was completely lost in the conversation. They just kept asking me if I like to use stuff that is safe for the enviornment & for my children, etc. But they never fully told me how to get involved besides forking over a large amount of money first to get started in the business.
Hi R.,
There are a lot of home based businesses out there. I would say that most are legitimate. A few things I would look for are 1) What is the compensation plan? 2) What is my up front cost? 3) What kind of support and training is available? 4) The company history/stability and 5) The product Finally, "Is this something that I would enjoy and could see myself doing?" Love what you do!!!! :)

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
I don't know anything about it but I am skeptical. You quoted "not allowed" to talk about some things and that sounds fishy.
I do see plenty of "advice" on here from people pushing the product.
No offense please.

Thank you for asking this question. I am very curious to know the answer myself. I doubt if anyone responds to this!
