I am looking for a good thermos that will keep food warm for my soon to be school age child's lunch. I am wanting to put food, such as canned pasta with meatballs or mac n cheese, in the thermos. Is anyone else doing this for their kids?

Oh sure, I do that for both of my daughters some times. There are smaller ones..I think I found them in the camping isle, but I have seen them over in the isle with rubber maid food storage type things too. They are not cheap, so be sure you have a good conversation with him about bringing it home, but other wise, they are perfect. I always over heat my kids food, so it is nice and warm for lunch. Have fun with meal planning!! ~A.~
Target usually carries Thermos brand in the back of the store (sporting goods?) I know they have a lot before school starts, but they may still keep them stocked.
We found some with Disney designs and they work well.
I do that for my younger son all the time. I bought one at Target - Thermos brand - the wide mouth one. I have other brands and they don't work as well. I also use it myself when I take hot stuff to work for lunch and the thermos one keeps things quite warm between the morning and lunch. I set aside leftovers from dinner - I have small pyrex bowls that just hold the amount that fits in the thermos and it's easy to just heat that up in the toaster oven or microwave. You can also do finger foods like chicken nuggets. I just put some wax paper or aluminum foil in with them so they don't move around.
I bought my daughter one from campbells soup and it is warm enough by the time it is lunch time at 10:30 am. I warm up leftovers extra hot and she always says it is warm by the time it is lunch time.
Good Luck!
