Think I Might Be Pregnant Again

I am not sure if I am pregnant again or not. I have taken two pregnancy tests and they were negative. But then again that was a week ago. I am not due for my period until Saturday but I am not cramping like I normally do, in fact I am not cramping at all. I am not feeling the normal things I normally do when about to start my period. Should I buy more pregnancy tests, or wait a few more days? By the way I just had my son two months ago. lol.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice and personal experiences. I am on the low estrogen birth control pill but have only been on it since this month. My husband knows the risks but doesn't like using condoms, neither do I. We talked it over and if we have another while on the pill thats ok with us. I am not breastfeeding for those of you who asked, My son rejected the breast milk and just wouldn't latch. I tried expressing the milk but it dried up. So we have been giving him Similac Alumentium since he is allergic to all enfamil and that similac is the only one NC WIC will give us. But thanks everyone for your advice.

Buy some more tests (Dollar store are great). My children are only 11 months apart so I will tell you it is very possible even if you were being safe (i was on low dose birth control and using condoms when we concieved my youngest)

Just wait.... and if you are late for your period, then get a preg test.

When I got pregnant with my son, I felt pregnant way before any test said so. I just kept going to the dollar store to get pregnancy tests so I didn't rack up a fortune for the regular ones. They may not be as accurate as the regular ones, but I just kept using them until I got a positive, and then went to the pharmacy to get one to double check. It took a couple weeks for it to show as positive on the test, but I knew almost immediately.

Have you had a period since the birth of your son? Granted I was breastfeeding which of course delays the start of the period after birth but I didn't have a period for over a year after my children's birth! I assume you've only had one period at the most since the birth of your son, you could (and probably will be) irregular for a while. You may or may not be due to start on Saturday. I would wait at least a week or two and then try another pregnancy test if you still think it's possible.

Also, was this your first baby? My periods changed significantly after my first pregnancy. I used to experience extreme cramps at the start of my period and ever since my first pregnancy, no more cramps!

Good luck,
K.

I don't think that you will be having regular periods that soon after having your son. Have you alrady stopped the Lochia and had a period and are now waiting for another period. I think it takes more than 2 months for a regular pattern to start even if you were regular before and have already had a real period not just bleeding from the birth. Also if you are breastfeeding you might not get periods at all. I didn't have a period for 18 months after I had my son as I was breastfeeding. Just be careful with protection and consider what you are going to use as it isn't good for your body or your baby for you to have another one so soon.

I exclusively breastfeed my children for a good 9 months before they begin getting solids and breastmilk... but I always get my period back immediately and begin ovulating immediately. I got my cycle within 30 days with our son and about 40 days with our daughter. My periods were quite irregular after giving birth to our son. I ended up getting pregnant when he was 8 months old. My periods returned to normal pretty much from the get go with our daughter. My normal cycle would be 28 days before giving birth but after our daughter they were anywhere from 28 to 34 days. I ended up getting pregnant 2 months postpartum after our daughter and had a miscarriage then got pregnant 4 months postpartum and ended up having an ectopic that resulted in surgery. It is possible you are pregnant but I would give it a bit more time since you probably are not completely regular yet, breastfeeding or not. Stress and other things can delay ovulation and your period will be anywhere from 12-16 days after ovulation. It takes that long for the lining of your uterus to break down. So if ovulation is delayed so will your period.
Also, be careful with getting pregnant again too soon. Your body needs time to rest, you will probably want to get back to your prepregnant body and weight, and it is possibly you will have more of a chance of losing the baby if you get pregnant again so soon. I don't know how true that is but after losing two pregnancies so soon after having my daughter I am guessing my body is saying it needs time to rest. I wouldn't wish losing a pregnancy on anyone. It is VERY devastating and I am still trying to heal from the loss of our last child. I would just wait a while longer and see what happens.
