I know this wasn't your question but I would avoid soy unless you have absolutely no choice (allergies, etc). Soy can replace milk if needed but the proteins and nutrients are inferior and there is question about health problems due to the chemicals (phytoestrogens) in soy.

My doctor had me switch all at once. We nursed and then I had a medical condition that would not allow me to continue as I was hospitalized. So my son was started on Enfamil Lipil. It was too harsh for him and he had reflux really bad with it. We switched him to Prosobee all in one day... no problems at all.

Good luck!

We switched our little one from the Similac Advance to the Simliac Sensitive and then to the Similac Soy. When we made the changes we did it all at once. Our dr. said it could take up to a week to see results from the switch. We made so many changes becuse our daughter has reflux. Good luck!

May I ask why you want to stop pumping? That breastmilk is precious and is so important for your daughter. Even at half of what she's taking, it is making a difference.

Why switch from Advance to Soy at all? Is there a medical reason for it? I would advise against soy. Our daughter was on it and we had serious constipation issues over it. We did Soy because she had reflux and she became a super content baby after the switch, but if you don't need to, don't do it. Ask your doctor. Good luck.

You must make a gradual switch, so you can see how baby reacts, and she can get used to a new taste. Try a few oz of the soy in the bottle the first few days and increase it by a few more etc. Good luck!

Do not do it without consulting your pediatrician. Soy can have serious problems and should only be used for specific cases.

Is there a reason you want to put your little one on Soy? It has been recently recommended that soy not be given to infants because it's affects on estrogen hormone. If this has been recomended by a doctor I guess it is o.k. I would switch completely over if she is having a reaction to the current product you are using so she can start feeling better. If she is feeling fine I would do 1/2 and 1/2 for a day or 2. I personally like Nestle Good Start with the comfort proteins. It is very gentle on their developing digestive system. I work as a pediatric as a therapist and have lots of discussions with moms and their developing infants, I have learn a lot from the many cliets I have services over the last 15 years. I also have one daugther who is 21 months old and one on the way.

Why are you thinking of switching? I tried that exact move because my son was very gassy and got constipated if he had more than 2-4 oz of formula and I also wanted to be a little more free of the pump. The soy made it so much worse! I ended up putting my son back on the Advance and just bumping his formula up a little tiny bit at a time. It took a long time, but he was able to handle more formula before I had to go back to work when he was 7 months old. Good luck in whatever you decide. It's kind of an experiment at the beginning, but you'll figure out what works!

Hi, I had to give my daughter Similac Soy also (and she was FINE)!!!! I actually gave her one bottle during the day, and she handled it just fine - and so I gave her one more. Then I waited until the next day and did the same thing - so then she was still 1/2 formula fed and then the rest breastfed (pumped, whatever)... I wouldn't mix your bm with the formula (just in case she doesn't like it)...you don't want to waste. Most kids do just fine...so no worries!!!

Good luck to you!
