I was wondering if any one has had trouble conceiving that has been told she has a tilted uterus,I think it's just hereditary ,My mother and sisters have both been told they have one to. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years now to get pregnant and have twice but with both ending in miscarriages 5-6 weeks later. I'm just wondering if this may have something to do with my uterus being tilted or not, My Dr. doesn't seem to be concerned. I read once there is different positions during intercourse that are better for conceiving with this problem. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!
Thanks to everyone for the input, I will try and be patient

Hi, I have a tilted uterus as well - I have had NO trouble what-so-ever getting pregnant. My first pregnancy resulted in mis-carriage at thirteen weeks and I have had two perfectly normal pregnancies since...So there is LOTS of hope! The only thing that I really noticed about having a tilted uterus was when we could hear the heartbeat with the doppler (much later than others). GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I have a tilted uterus and don't think it had any effect on conception or delivery.
I also had a few miscarriages but they think that was due to a small septum in my uterus that was fixed and then I conceived my daughter.
I went to a top notch fertility specialist in SF and she never had a concern re: my tilted uterus.
HTH!

My sister and I both have a tilted uterus - I had no problems conceiving, and she did. I don't think it had anything to do with the tilted uterus. My sister still ended up having 4 kids even with problems conceiving. It took her 3 years to conceive her first.
It sounds like miscarrying is more of a problem than conception for you.
This may be something to try - or it may be an old wives tale - but it has worked for a couple of my friends - to take false unicorn root daily to help prevent a miscarriage. A more medical view is that miscarriages are caused by an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone - with not enough progesterone being produced by the body. Under the direction of a physician, you could try a topical progesterone cream. Also - some people think that an overgrowth of candida yeast can cause miscarriages. I would consult a natural health practitioner about this - getting rid of it involves getting all sugar and refined flour out of the diet.
Infertility can be one of the most heartbreaking things to go through - hang in there - and good luck!

I was told the same thing years ago but did nothing about it. That Obgyn said it could be corrected with surgery. When we did try to have a child it took us 4 years to conceive child #1 but I think it was hormones out of wack. My new obgyn did not say anything about a tilted uterus. We conceived son #2 in less than one year.

I have a tipped uterus too. And had 2 miscarriages before my oldest son was born. HOWEVER, I got pregnant while still on the pill with BOTH those pregnancies which was the reason my doctor said I lost them.
I now have 3 kids, and never had a problem concieving when I wanted to. I did have what's called a blighted ovum between my 2nd and 3rd children. But again that was nothing to do with the tipped uterus.
My advice, just relax and enjoy the sex and when the time is right I'm sure you'll be throwing up again :)If you're super concerned see if your doctor can refer you to a specialist to make sure there aren't other issues for you OR your husband that could be causing the delay.
Good luck :)

I cannot give much advice on trying to conceive, but I can tell you that I have been told I have a tilted uterus (that sits far back). Every doctor that has examined me has made mention of this. Luckily, I have been blessed with 3 healthy pregnancies and have been able to conceive within the first few months of trying... so I don't believe this issue alone is responsible for your concerns. This is, of course, just my experience and opinion. Best wishes to you in your journey!

Hi, I also have a tilted uterus. I actually think that it is quite common. I was always told that it should not affect conception, and that held true for me with my first son. We conceived him first time trying. However, it has been quite a different story since. We have been trying for #2 for about a year now. I also had one m/c. So Im like you, and beginning to wonder. I will have to read your other responses. As far as positions go. . . Ive heard that "doggy" style is supposedly the best, but who knows. Afterward most women lay on their backs with their pelvis tilted up, but we women with tilted uteruses are supposed to lay on our side or stomach. Hope that helps. Be patient, it will happen when it is meant to be :)

Hello L....
Many years ago, 40 to be exact, I had a tipped uterus. It caused me pain during intercourse. My OB put a brace up inside to position the uterus correctly. I got pregnant with TWINS after the brace was in place. The Dr. left the brace in until I went into labor, at which time he removed it. I delivered (naturally) a healthy set of boy/girl twins. Both weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. each. They are 39 yrs. old today with children of their own. I think it would be worth your while to ask your OB about a brace. I don't think that your uterus problem would cause your miscarriages though. I am so very sorry you and your family have gone through this not once but twice. As far a different position for intercourse...."doggy style" was what we like best. Don't know if it made any difference in getting pregnant though. ;o)
Good luck. P. (61 yr. old Mom/Granny)

I have a tilted uterus and was born with a herniated ovary. Once my husband and I stopped "avoiding" pregnancy, we had no trouble conceiving, nor did we have issues going full term. We noticed that our friends who were feverishly trying to conceive were more stressed out, I believe causing their bodies to reject conception. Let it happen. Don't let it be the motivation when being intimate. The more fun your love making, the more at ease you'll be.

I was told a long time ago that I've got a tilted uterus, but at the same time my OB said that it wouldn't cause me any problems with getting pregnant (or anything else). She just said it matter of factly. And, when it came time that my husband and I started trying to get pregnant, it took only two months.
So, in my experience, it didn't matter.

Hi L.,
I was told I have a tilted uterus and I have two small kids. I had trouble conceiving with the first, but Clomed took care of that easily and the second was a breeze. I would talk to your doctor about the first steps towards infertility testing. I got the sense that when I had some dificulties the first time, that my doctor felt there wasn't any time to waste (we had been trying 9 months and I was 31). Good luck!

I have one and got pregnant first try both times. Nothing to worry about. Just be sure you aren't overexercising or over 42. These seem to be trouble areas getting pregnant. I just put my feet up the wall for a few minutes after trying to conceive. Don't jump up right away. That's all I did. :) Relax, relax, relax. No alcohol for either partner. They say even a year before you should stop. No hot tubbing for either party is another one to watch out for. Happy baby making.

I don't think the cause of the miscarriages is the tilted uterus. My mother has a tilted uterus and had three children and two miscarriages. I have a tilted uterus. It took me a year to get pregnant. I think, however, that it was stress that prevented the pregnancy. Once I removed a major source of stress from my life it happened almost instantly!
I've read that a tilted uterus has nothing to do with difficulty in conception. I've also read that missionary postion with the female on her back and the male on top is ones of the best positions for conceiving. After sex, I put pillows under my rear and held a sort of "bicycle" position for 15 -20 minutes and then slept on my side. I don't know if it helped or not, but I would have tried anything to get pregnant. After a year, I conceived.
Good luck to you!!

So sorry you're having trouble conceiving. I have a tilted uterus as well and had no problems getting pregnant with either child. In fact, both happened as soon as I went off of birth control. It's probably not you're tilted uterus that is causing problems. My doctor said it's more just an interesting fact with no consequences (I was worried about the delivery).

My mother also has a tilted uterus and was told that she would have trouble getting pregnant. She was pregnant with my sister after the first try and may have needed two tries to get pregnant with me. Neither my sister nor I had any trouble getting pregnant either, but we have not been told anything about the orientation of our wombs.
I wish you the best of luck with expanding your family. My suggestion is to examine your life as a whole to identify any other factors that may be inhibiting your ability to get pregnant. Trying to get pregnant is a stressful process, in addition to the stresses of life in general, and the stress increases the longer it takes. Relax and enjoy your family, and amazing things will happen. Good Luck!

I have a tilted uterus and I know tons of other women do to, I think now days is it fairly common. But I have great fertility.
Do you know how badly it is tilited? I dont think that just a normal tilt would affect your fertility.
There might be different reasons why you are miscarrying.
First thing I would check would be your progesterone levels. It is a quick and easy fix.
After that maybe try the DNA compatability testing. I can find more info for you if you are interested. There is a lab in one of the Dakota states that does this. (you can email me later adn I will look for the info ____@____.com)
Good Luck and tons of baby dust!!!!

I also have a tilted uterus, the way it was explained to me is that it's just another variation of normal, sort of like some people have a crooked pinky and some don't. I've never read that it could be a problem by causing miscarriages. I think I would see a fertility specialist to rule out any other problems that might be causing the miscarriages. Also, when we're trying to get pregnant we know right away when we succeed, but supposedly more pregnancies than we know end in miscarriage, we just never knew we were pregnant. If you've been trying for two years though, a fertility specialist is the way to go.

I also have a titlted uterus and am currently pregnant with my third child, and while my Dr did say it might make it more difficult to concieve (my first pregnancy took about 9 months or so of trying), I do not know if it has anything to do with causing miscarriage. I would discuss your situation with your doctor again, and if you still don't feel comfortable with him/her and their answers to your questions, maybe you should find someone else. Good luck.

I also have a tilted uterus. Have known about it since my first GYN exam before I got married. My OB/GYN said it shouldn't matter when we wanted to get pregnant. I have two children 7 and 4. It took about 8 months to get pregnant with my son, and 2 months for my daughter. No miscarriages in between either. Looking at your profile, you say you are 35, so your eggs aren't as young as they used to be. Could that be a factor as to why it's taking longer?
As for different positions.........well, just be creative and you might get lucky!
Good luck with the baby making!

Hi L.,
I also have a tilted uterus as does my mother. I don't think it has any thing to do with fertility as the uterus is a really just a place and it's tilt shouldn't matter. Also since conception doesn't happen in the uterus itself, I can't imagine that what you do during intercourse could correct any issues the tilt may be causing. The only thing my doctor has told me abouat a tilted uterus is that you're more likely to experience "back labor" (contractions feeling like back pain) because of it's position. Good luck and you may want to talk to you dr about other causes for the fertility issues.

I can't remember the first time that the Dr. told me that I had a tilted uterus, but it was early in my trying to get pregnant the first time. My grandmother had talked about how she had one and had a few miscarriages so it scared me. After my first child I had one miscarriage (well it wasn't ever a viable pregnancy as there was just a sac and not a baby), then had 2 other children. I just had a miscarriage in September but my Dr. really blamed it on being 40 years old. I was told to never worry about the tilted uterus and since I have 3 perfect children didn't even think about it with the last miscarriage.
So, Long story longer (haha), I wouldn't worry about it, since there really isn't anything that can be done and you know that you can conceive, then it is all up to God after that.
Hope my rambling helps a little, you aren't alone!!

Hi L.,
I was told I have a tilted uterus and it never resulted in a difficulty to conceive. I don't know if there are certain degrees of tilt or anything like that. I have never had a miscarriage either (I have 2 boys- 6 and 2 and am 36 years old). I would suggest you ask your doctor to explore whatever may be the cause. I know one of the biggest barriers to getting pregnant is too much stress and I've personally had many friends in that boat for years and it's not until they were well into adoption that they got pregnant! I do have some friends that used artificial insemination and that worked for some that had some difficulty. Best of luck to you. I have friends that have miscarried, some of them multiple times and I've seen that devastation. My heart goes out to you. Please discuss all of this with your doctor and if she/he doesn't give you the time you need, I'd find someone who can and is willing.
