Also, a white noise machine is a must for us when we travel. Since we end up sleeping in the same hotel room, this helps the baby sleep better. Have fun!
Just booked a 2 year anniversary trip, a week at an all inclusive in the carribean for my husband and I. We'll be bringing our 9 month old. Any tips on how to make the airport a safe and happy experience for us and for others on the plane?
Also, any tips on how to pack for baby, how to ensure he carries on sleeping well, and for fun and safe activities at the beach and pool? someone suggested we bring an inflatable pool with us to the beach, that way our son can play in water, without the danger of the surf, is that a good idea? any other recommendations?
Thanks a bunch. Looking forward to sharing this adventure.

TAKE THE BINKY!!!! That is if he likes it. I cant give you much addvice on beach stuff as we dont live any place close to water. However my kids have done there fare share of traviling and I find having somthing for them to suck on is a god send. As for bedtime and napping I would keep that as much the same as you can. Bath, Story, Bed, ect. Not much help but I hope it helps in some small way.
Have lots and lots of fun!!!!

We flew to Switzerland (a 9 hr flight) with my son when he was 9 months old. That was the perfect age to fly! He was great on the flight to and from.
Here are some things I made sure ot pack for the flight:
-Saline drops (these helped greatly! their little nasal passages are so small and the air on the flight tends to dry them out quick - I put a few drops in before the flight and after).
-Pacifier and don't forget the paci holder - you don't want the paci to drop mid flight, quiet new toys or put away some favorite toys and bring them back out for the flight.
-Sleeper - you could also pack another change of clothes but the sleeper is sort of all in one - you don't have to worry about pants, shirt, socks, etc.
-Thin, small blanket - this was always helpful just in case it's a little cool.
-My son was eating those little puffs and cheerios at that age so we pack a small supply of those to have on the flight (I got some of those little containers that hold like 1/2 a cup)
-I packed diapers for the flight but then bought some once we were in Switzerland- it was easier than packing a whole bunch of diapers! I also got small trial sizes of baby wash, diaper cream, etc and had these in the plastic bag in the diaper bag.
-We checked the pack and play but then we gate checked the stroller and car seat (we have the chicco system) - that worked out perfectly! They also told us if there was enough room on the flight we could take the car seat on with us - and there was! I'm glad I didn't check it at the very beginning because I could bring it on with us!
-Most of all try to stay relaxed - I think they can sense if we are tense so if you are relaxed there's a good chance they will be too!
Have fun!!
Request a bulk head seat when you check in, it will allow for more room on the plane which is needed if you have a lap infant! Make sure to bring 2 changes of cloths for him just in case, and plenty of diapers and the like. Most of all, relax, it is never as bad as one thinks it will be!!
If you aren't nursing the baby, leave her with a relative and have a restful vacation!
