Toddler Car Seat Needed!!

We have one toddler carseat, but we need one more for Daddy's car. The prices for these things can get outrageous, so I decided to ask you mamas!

Does anybody have a toddler carseat or know someone who does who is willing to sell it for a fair price? I have searched Craigslist, but I haven't found anything great. I have a two year old, so a infant/toddler carseat won't fit her anymore--that's what we have now. Perhaps a car seat that can turn into a booster seat later. The one we have now seems to fit her pretty well.

What can I do next?

I just picked up a great toddler seat at Target for $40.00. I actually picked up two, one for me and one for the hubby! It's good from 30lbs-100lbs, has arm rests & cup holders, and the back comes off converting to just a booster seat. It even comes in pretty pink with crowns for the princess look, and Grey & red for Daddy's truck!

Cosco Sceneras are $50 at Walmart and are an awesome back up seat for toddlers. They rearface up to 35 pounds are are super easy to install in most cars. They lack some of the super plush fabrics of the top of the line Britax Decathlon or Boulevard, but they are just as safe!
I would not recommend buying a used seat. Seats expire generally 6 years after manufacture. Also, seats involved in even a small accident should be replaced because of possible hairline cracks or weak spots. People selling often won't tell you, mostly because they just don't know how important it is.
It is just not safe IMHO to buy used.
Especially when you can get a brand new Scenera for $50
they even have a cute girly one available

Have you tried going to Once Upon a child? They sell used baby stuff and are pretty reasonable.

I have a great brand new never used car seat. We purchased it as an extra for my parent's car not knowing they also purchased one. We were slackers about returning it to Target so it was longer than 90 days and Target (grrrr!) wouldn't let us return it even with the receipt!!? Anyway, it's just sitting in our garage. We paid like $129 for it but of course would sell it for a fraction of that. Send me a message if you're interested!

Sign up for freecycle, freesources and dupagecountyparent swap. It's a recycling site where people give stuff away, and you can get rid of stuff. You can get a lot of good stuff for free. I've received some winter boots for my kids, halloween costumes for 2 years for both of them, christmas tree, booster seats for car, toys, sleeping bag, etc. I've seen people give away a car, computers, furniture and a lot more stuff.
Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/, then search for freecycle, freesources groups in towns in your area. Just type in your town, sign up and have fun. It's an awesome site! You get a lot for free and by recycling you help save the environment!
