Toddler-friendly Recipes

Can anyone recommend a good cookbook for toddlers/families? I'm not the greatest cook but I try. I do have one book by Annabel Karmel, but some of her recipes get a little overly "gourmet" for me. I'm looking for quick, easy and healthy. My daughter is at the point where she eats pretty much everything that we do, I just cut back on the strong seasonings and spices.

What can I do next?

I commend you for looking for foods that are best for toddlers! A cookbook I don't have but I have several files and a CD that is good. You are welcome to these.

warmly,

I checked out The Sneaky Chef from the library and got some really good ideas. Maybe you could go to the library and check some out there. If you like recipes, make copies!

I had the same problem, but, I was in luck! One of my mom friends was a gourmet cook and suggested:

Annabel Karmel: First Meals

She has different cook books and they are great! She starts with baby food and than moves on to the toddler years and into preschool. The meals are super fast, easy, and tasty.

Good Luck!

I love "The One-Armed Cook". I know Babies R Us carries it, but check your local library before you buy it, in case you don't like it.

Give the Rachael Ray or Sandra Lee or Paula Deen cookbooks a try. They are all pretty basic and easy prep and you can adjust the spices as needed. Good luck and bon apetit!

I love the magazine Simple and Delicious. I have been getting it for many years now. It is only $10 a year. There are many great recipes in it filled with short cuts and budget friendly meals. They even break down some for your according to cost. They also give you a meal plan for the week as well as a grocery list. I have found many great ideas here and my kids love them. Good luck!

Hi C.---Don't have little babies anymore, but I do refer my clients to www.eatingwell.com when they are looking for recipes and ideas. They have a great section on kid friendly recipes, health and nutrition advice. The regular, 'big' people recipes are fabulous.

Let me know if I can be of additional help. Enjoy.

I have found that all the "Taste of Home" cook books (and the magazine) have wonderfully simple, delicious recipes. Every recipe is sent in by the readers of the magazine and are easy, using ingredients that you already have in your kitchen. (Nothing gourmet).
