Hello Ladies,

I have a 21month old boy and I have read before that around this time they start getting symptoms for molars. I think he is going trough that however I wanted to get some feedback from moms that have been trough this.

He has been moody and crying a lot; He doesnt get as much sleep as he used to during the day. He starts putting his fingers in his mouth and kind of complaints or starts crying. I assume it's the teething becuase nothing consoles him.
Please some advice.

J.

I agree with you, sounds like teething. Try ice cubes, wet then frozen washcloth's, whatever worked for the front teeth. Good luck.

Hi J.,

Get some Ora Gel and put on his molars when he starts fussing.

Hi J.,

My 2 1/2 year old daughter went throught the same thing. The best advice I got was from my mother who told me to buy a box of Freeze pops or popcicles and let them chew on those when they are crying to sooth them and they feel as if they got a treat. A little bit of Tylenol helps at nap time or a night when they seem to be experiencing it more. The frozen treats also works with potty training.

Good Luck!

I suggest taking him to the ped to rule out ear infection before you make a final conclusion that it's molars. They can feel the same to the one experiencing the problem, and ear infections interrupt sleep because there is more pressure in the ear when laying down.

I recommend giving your child the biting rings that you put in the freezer to deal with the teething cold is nice for them so that it kind've numbs the pain and you don't have to give them orajel constantly. Hope it helps.

It does sound like teething, but be wary of ear infections. Sometimes, the behavior is the same. If you don't see teeth come through pretty quickly, I would take him to have his ears checked.

Can you ask him if there is a "boo-boo" and have him point to it?

Tylenol is the only thing we ever needed - and some extra cuddles.

J.,

My son is 18 months old and already going through this. I only use it when I really need to, but Children's Motrin is good as a last resort. I also try giving him his chewy tube (www.chewytubes.com). This little chew toy is one of the best things I've seen for young teethers. I also give a little garlic in his food because his symptoms for teething are fever, diarrhea, and a little vomiting. I know it sounds more like a virus bug, but it's actually teething. For the crying a lot, give him his special blanket or toy and let them chew on that if they want, just keep it as clean as you can. There is not much you can do, but hug him. Hope this helps and good luck. Also, if you're starting to stress, get a sitter and go on a date with your husband or go out by yourself. I go out with my husband every other Thursday on a date and out at least 2 times a week to help with the stress. My son is teething and my daughter is almost 4 and autistic. It can be stressful sometimes, but getting out with other women and dates with my husband really helps. Have fun.

4 little words that saved me through the teething years w/ my three kids: Dr. Hylands Teething Tablets! They are all natural(made from chamomile, like the tea, a natural numbing agent or something). They disolve immediately on the tongue and the relief was amazing for all of my children. As a matter of fact...I have memories of 2am runs to the all night pharmacy to buy them so I could get back to sleep! Trust me, if your child responds as well as mine did to them...you will get your happy child back and your smile as well!
Good luck, God bless,
L.

Hi J.,
Just a suggestion, I went through something similar with my daughter, and thought it was teething. She was doing the same thing inconsolable crying even with Tylenol and putting fingers in mouth. We took her to the pediatrician and he said she had herpangina(?) it is a virus that toddlers get around 2 years of age. It causes a very sore throat they gave her a mouth wash and it cleared up in about 3 days . Just thought this might be helpful. Hope it's just the teething.
