Gooey eyes = pink eye - redness or not. yes, he should go to the doctor, and no he should not go to daycare until you know it is NOT pink eye, or he has had the several doses of the drops.
Watery , crusty eyes for past 2 days. A little puffiness maybe but no redness in the eyes. And yesterday night had fever - 100.3 F. Just checked and doesn't seem to have any fever. He does have runny nose(not much) and he was out playing in the snow over the weekend. He was his usual playful self . Do you think he needs to be seen? Is it ok to send him to daycare with the watery gooey eyes? It doesn't look like pink eye since there is no redness. I will call the nurse when they open today morning but was curious to know what you moms would do.Thanks!

I don't think there has to be any redness to the eye, it can be glassy and crusty. I always asked myself, "If there was another child sent in to daycare in this condition and my son got ill from him/her how would I feel?"
It sounds to M. like it would be for the best. Ultimately it's your decision but, your putting a lot of kids at potential risk for infection. If he doesn't, take him in for a 1/2 day and you can work a 1/2 day (if you work).
Hope he feels better soon. Take care.

Pink Eye is contagious. It could be allergic pink eye. Personally? I would not send him to school/day care until the doctor checked him out. Especially since he had a fever within the last 24 hours. Allergies USUALLY do not cause fevers...
Definitely do not take him to daycare; definitely do take him to the doctor today. Don't wait. The crustiness could be pinkeye, even without the pinkness, or another infection; and he has had a fever -- no parent at your daycare will thank you for bringing in a child who had a fever just yesterday. (And frankly the daycare provider would be right to take one look at him and ask you to take him home, especially with runny, crusty eyes.) The fact he is playful and energetic doesn't mean anything; kids can be fine as far as energy and playfulness and "normal" behavior when they have fevers, have infections, etc. I hope it goes well at the doctor's. By the way -- this does not sound like allergies at all; allergies don't usually cause crustiness that stays in the eye.
It might just be allergies. My daughter the past week has had super watery eyes, puffiness and itchy nose. I can tell when she is sick and she is not so I give her the claritan chewables when it gets really bad and that usually helps. Some kids can get small fevers when their allergies act up. If it was M. I would keep him home to be safe but I also am a stay at home mom and uderstand that mothers who work might not have that option.
Sounds like a day home for him. I would wait it out for a couple days and not take him to daycare.
It can be pink eye even if no "pink" or redness is visible. I found this out the hard way . . .
I wouldn't send him to child care - many have policies about eye crud if it keeps coming (like not morning crusties and gone) and yes, I would take him to the doctor today to get eye drops. Since it has gone on more than a day, you'll want to check it out.
As long as there is no fever and the eye isn't pink, I'd send him to daycare.
Some crusty eye problems never turn to pink eye - a sty (infected eye lid) often goes away on it's own and just looks a bit puffy for a few days.
I'd monitor symptoms and wait for changes but I wouldn't see a doctor yet.
