Toddler Vitamins

My two year old son has recently hit a stage where the only veggies he will eat are snap peas and green beans, and even those can be iffy. I am considering starting him on some chew-able vitamins to make sure he's getting what he needs. Does anyone have any suggestions about what has worked for you?

What can I do next?

If he is eating fruits, whole grains, meats and drinking his milk then I wouldn't panic over the lack of veggies. Try putting things where he doesn't even realizing he is eating veggies, even tomato sauce is substantial so spaghetti, pizza are good alternatives. My kids boycotted peas until I stopped cooking them and give them to them slightly thawed out, not only is it more nutritious that way they loved that they crunched, so they are huge fans now of raw veggies and dip.
If you are concerned he isn't getting what he needs try those first Flintstones, they are for kids under 3. That and Pediasure has tons of vitamins and minerals in them and I would sometimes substitute that instead of milk with breakfast. Other things are Carnation instant breakfast with their milk, they think they are drinking chocolate or strawberry milk.

There are two cookbooks, one called "The Sneaky Chef" and another called "Deceptively Delicious" where you sneak the veggies into their food...I have the cookbooks, but haven't tried them yet. As far as vitamins go, I have in the past given my kids the Gummy Vites--they sell them just about everywhere. They are like gummy bears, and my kids LOVE them.

I know most of the vitamins say over 4 years. I found some that my son really likes, he is 3 and they are the Aussie Pals from Melaleuca - they have seventeen vitamins and minerals to get them the nutrients their little bodies need, my son likes them, they are natural fruit flavors, not sugar. They also have Vita-bears for active kids for when they get a little older.

Well, I don't know what vitamins really "work" but I give mine the Flintstones Firsts. They're the chewable ones for kids as young as 2. I like to believe they help. But who really knows. All I know is that they like them. Sorry I don't have more for you. Good luck.

Hi S.,
The nutritionist I had to see for my dd said to stay away from the gummies they are missing a couple ingredients that are needed. They recommended flintstone complete for the iron. I personally use Isakids. I hope this helps and gl

Our doctor said to look for something with Iron and Zinc. Flinstone completes and similar generics were the only ones I found with that. We just got a pill splitter and give our son a half a day. He loves them. He can't believe we give him candy every morning. (We've never told him they are candy and we keep them well out of his reach, which is a challenge since he's a climber.) For our first we just did Flintstones Firsts. They don't have the iron or zinc. Our little guy struggles with anemia, so you may be fine without those.
