My 15 month old has runny noise and very occasional cough, less than once an hour and it sounds bad. She woke a few times but not too bad last 2 nights. She is a little clingy but otherwise ok. She was a little warm so I gave Tyelenol. Should I call urgent care or wait until Monday? is there anything they will do?

What can I do next?

My 23 month old had the same thing, what made it go away (without drugs) is 2 cloves of garlic lightly boiled (about 2 minutes), grated, mized with one table spoon honey (if over 12 months) and one table spoon fresh squeezed lemon juice. Took care of it in a couple of days. Though I did simultaneously give vitamin D3, echinacea, and goldenseal for the immune system.

I would try to place a humidifer in her room while she is sleeping. It could be dry in the house and making her throat a little sore. Also try to give her more water for the week then milk to clear up any congestion she might have. With the milk it could be coating her throat making the cough sound worse then it is. Tylonel is good for the fever. Also she could be teething as per the runny nose. You can try some infant saline drops to help unclog her nose that is really helpful. :)

I would call first thing on monday morning unless she gets worse. she could have an ear infection and the post nasal drip will make her cough. give her a nice warm bath before bed and some tylenol. you can not give kids too much at this age. if she is running a small fever it is some kind of infection, most likely an ear infection. make sure the cough does not sound like she is barking then she has croup which is no fun and she will need meds to get rid of that.

Could be many things from teething (my son would get a runny nose, cough and low grade fever every time) to allergies to a mild cold. Sounds like the cough might be from post nasal drip. Lots of fluids. I would definitely call your ped on Monday morning if there is still fever but being a "little warm" doesn't usually require a trip to urgent care in my opinion.

If you've got the fever down and it's just a runny nose and cough, then I'd just keep an eye on her. Does she still have a good appetite? How's her energy level. If everything else is pretty normal, I wouldn't make a trip to urgent call. If you can get her to sleep with her head elevated, that will help with the cough. You can also keep a humidifier in her room.

These ideas will be priceless to you if you really pay attention to them. Stay away from sugar when you have a cold. It makes it worse. Get a humidifier for her room. A little ground ginger in her warm milk will also help a lot. I would not give her tylenol unless her fever is higher than 102. Don't load her up with more junk for her body to try to fight off. Cooked apples with fresh cinnamon and fresh ginger is good too. Ginger is one of the best things to rid runny noses. Try to go all natural if you can. Fresh home made soups with lots of veggies like carrots, celery, onion, garlic, ginger, greens, chicken. Don't use broths with MSG. Cumin and Corriander are great spices to add to the soup too.
Good Luck!

This cough is really going around. My 3 year old has it and my 2 month old came down with it over the weekend, which landed us in the ER. Bronchiolitis is the diagnosis. Common in kids, potentially dangerous for babies. Keep the cool mist humidifier going. We give our 3 year old Hylands honey cough syrup but I would double check if ok for a 15 month old? Keep the fluids going and get lots of rest. Viruses just need to run their course. Hope she is feeling better!!
