I have a 17.5 month old, last night and this morning he's had a slight fever; last night he only had one bite of chicken for dinner, this morning he wouldn't eat but he drank most of his milk. Then he started to finish his milk, and next thing I know he's puking a clear mucus like fluid that had soured/curdled milk in it too. After I cleaned him up, he ate a small pancake and half of a sausage link after I gave him a dosage of Tylenol. He seems to be acting fine now. But I dont know what can be wrong, whether its him teething, bad milk, a stomache virus or what. Please help!!!!

What can I do next?

I would follow his cues. If he is acting fine then go with it but just try to keep activities low key until you know for sure. My son would vomit from post nasal drip when he had a cold, maybe the excess saliva swallowed from his teething upset his tummy? If he doesn't want to eat then his tummy is telling him something. Stick to bland foods right now and see how he does.

Well I guess I was more slimy than mucus. But he's held his food down so far. Right now the clearest juice I have is apple juice which is the juice I've always had to drink any time I've been sick, other wise I can't keep it down. So I watered it down a little. He seems fine like nothing ever happened. And his fever wasn't up to 100 cuz I normally take him to the doctor then too. But it was like as soon as he was done in the first bath he was right to eating and playing as normal. After he had some spaghetti ohs for lunch, he went to playing in his room, and I guess he went poop and just kept playing, 15 minutes after he ate, I went to check his diaper(for it normally takes him 15-20 mins to poop), I obviously went to change it had to gi e him a bath because some wouldn't come off with the soft sensitive pamper wipes. But he seems back to normal. If he seems to get sick like again, I'm going to take him to the doctors.

fever or no fever milk comes up curdled. Sounds like a tummy bug...i'd take it easy on the food he might surprise you in a few hours! Liquids are the most important...but if you are o.k. with cleaning up messes then go ahead and keep feeding him food!

That always happened to my son when e had a cold. The fluids would bring up the mucous. Also if he threw up of course it would smell sour it might have been sitting in his throat for a while. He'll be find. Good luck.

I would take my child into the doctor for a fever at or over 100. As much as your baby wants milk, you're not supposed to give milk when a person has a fever due to curdling & vomiting. Give him Pedialite & water 2-3 oz at a time until fever goes down & he can handle milk again. They no longer say that you have to alternate Motrin & Tylenol (acetaminophen) anymore but if you give Tylenol (acetaminophen) you have to give it EVERY 4 hours by the clock or it won't be effective. A couple of months ago our 12mo old had a mild fever & I found out she had ear infection (no ear pulling etc) & we started antibiotics but by 11pm she had 104 fever! I had already been pushing Pedialite but we were the told about giving Tylenol exactly every 4 hours. Push clear fluid. I hope this helps. Take care.

I vote stomach bug. Clear liquids (it's Ok to skip milk for a day or two), Tylenol of the fever is high, toast, crackers, etc. Liquids are more important for now (to prevent dehydration).
Hopefully it's a 24/48 hour thing. :)

My son had that a couple months ago.
And he had the stomach flu.
He'd vomit intermittently for about 2-3 days.
Had fever and stomach ache too.

Just keep an eye on your son and see if he gets more sick or not.
Maybe the Tylenol is artificially making him feel better. Because if he is sick... then it will return when the Tylenol wears off.

The fever could make the milk curtal. If it was mucusy then it my be sinus drainage. I am not sure what your definition of slight is. But at that age he very well could be teething. But it could be other things too. I would not give him milk right now as long as he has a fever cause that could happen every time.

Good Luck and God Bless!!
