My 2 1/2 year old has been drinking out of a cup FOREVER!!! No sippys, except in the car. She still spills even a couple of swallows EVERYWHERE!!! I have to strip her down so her clothes are not wrecked for the rest of the day, and some days... she just lookis like an orphan. This may sound silly... I have 5 kids, it should be old hat by now right? Should I be concerned?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Great Ideas! Thanks so much!! I was wondering if she was a little uncoordinated... I love the straws and the shot glass size idea! I will try them all and let you know how it goes!

My daughter (3 in Jan)uses both a regular glass and a sippy depending on the time an place. She still has spills... I have noticed that with some cups she has more spills. Try lettign you LO practice with a 1oz. measuring glass or a shot glass if you do not have the measuring oz. It is an easy size for them to hold and small enough that my daughter can drink it down without spilling.

Some kids are less coordinated than other. How about having her use a cup w/ a lid and a straw or a sports cap? That way, it isn't a sippy cup but spills are avoided.

No, you have nothing to be concerned about. Are you ok with her drinking from a cup with a straw? I used those for my kids when they got a little older and were more coordinated.

She's fine. Good for you for not keeping her with a sippy cup forever!

Um, my 4 1/2 year old still occasionally spills a little of his drinks. I think 2 1/2 is a little young to be expected to drink from a regular cup sans any spillage. Just my opinion and experience.

2 1/2 is really young to drink out of a cup with no spills. Give it another 6-10 months. Until then, try a Camelback cup--with a bit valve/straw that folds over to keep things clean. My kids love them!
