I love doing home improvement stuff like this. It doesn't even seem like work to me. But, I'm weird like that. I bet when you are done, you will sit back, look at that room, and feel really great about the awesome job you did!
so heres the plan for this weekend.. tonight wen my fiance comes home hes going to clean all of the walls in our room(well the spots i couldnt reach).. we used to smoke in the house before i got pregnant and my dads been a smoker as long as i can remember so u can clearly see the stains on the wall, i took down the few picture frames we had hanging and u can clearly see the difference in the paint where the pictures were.. tomorrow morning wake up relatively early and move all the furniture out of our room - a futon a tv on a stand 2 sets of shelves with clothes and a small end table type thing which has my phone computer modem router all of that good stuff.. then rip out the old carpeting and tac strip& clean the floor as best as possible underneath and then clean all of the baseboards.. sunday is painting.. were really hoping 2coats of paint will cover.. plus paint the cieling and baseboards and closet door and around the windows and pray to god its completely dry the next morning .. so then monday we will be putting in the new carpet but its carpet tiles so u have to spread the whole floor with glue and then let it sit for 3 hours before u start putting down the carpet.. o0 i forgot to mention there are quite a few spots on the walls that need spackeling .. theres really no question here im just looking for all of you out there in mamapedia that do your own home projects to tell me that this can actually be done lol.. my fiance n father both work construction so therye both like yeeahh no problem we'll get it done (my dad wont be helping until monday).. i, on the other hand am a little skeptical

Sounds totally do-able to me!
Good luck!
What kind of food are you serving?
I'm sure they'll do a wonderful job-you take it easy! I hope they're using no VOC paint-it is safe and dries quickly-good luck! Interested in the carpet-glue process-how is the glue spread, left for three hours-then carpet tiles laid? Do you start from the threshold and go in-or lower yourself from the ceiling-sort of "Mission Impossible " style?
Sounds totally doable to me too. Keep the cold drinks (no beer) and good protein snacks (carbs will slow them down) ready and it'll be done before you know it. Doing things like this are always harder when they get dragged out, in and out is the way to go.
Save yourself some time and buy the paint that is paint and primer in one. Both Lowes and Home Depot have them and a few other stores. I have used both Lowes and Home Depot's brands and they really are one coat! I painted an off white over hunter green, one coat!
Anyway that sounds like an easy three day project so you guys will be fine.
Yes, it is doable! My suggestion is to spackle tonight so it's dry and ready to sand by the morning (that takes longer than the paint sometimes). You could start moving some of the furniture & stuff out, too.
And, make sure you have somebody to watch the kid(s), so you are available to help and don't have to keep stopping to tend to them! Have food ready for meals & snacks (easy stuff like sandwiches, pizza, etc), so you don't have to go anywhere to eat.
Good luck, I hope you get it all done and enjoy the new & improved room!
it can be done, keep the fans rolling to keep the air circulating, get a bag of ice in the freezer to add to the gator aid/water. Its going to be hot this weekend. We too will be busy busy busy, we will be moving in July and need to get this house in order for the packing, plus plan out the cleaning and painting for at the new house. Good for cleaing up the smoking residue. I dont think smokers really think about how messy smoking can be, it grosses me out to see a car going down the road where the windshield has that yellow/brown residue on it. How can they see out it?
Oh yeah - we love to do home improvement projects and all that can be done in three days. Your only issue will be getting everything to dry in time. Spackle as early as you can Saturday and sand as soon as it's dry in case you need to do two coats to get the wall smooth.
Good luck!
You all are NOT going to be bored this weekend!
I'm so extremely slow at projects, because I have to do one thing for a while and then put in some time on something else. It sounds nice just to tackle a project and be done with it!
