Tooth Fairy - Woodway,TX

My youngest daughter is almost 6 she has lost 4 teeth now. When she lost her first tooth I had her put it under her pliiow and that night replaced it with a dollar in quarters. In the morning she refused the money and told me to give her tooth back to her. She has 3 older sisters and this has a tradition in our home for 7 years now. The older girls keep trying to make her believe but she refuses to. The last tooth she lost was while she was with her Dad and he put a dollar in place of the tooth that night. Again in the morning she threw away the money and said she wanted her tooth back. Do I just give up the tooth fairy idea with her? Her sisters are 12, 10, and 7, and they still want the tooth fairy even though they know the truth.

What can I do next?

this is the first kid I have heard of that didn't love money......does she think that she can put the tooth back in if she gets it back? I guess I would sit down and talk to her and find out why she is so resistent to the tooth fairy and if she makes sense in her reasoning then (as hard as it would be) give up the tooth fairy for her, if she thinks she can put the tooth back in or doesn't realize that a new tooth is going to come in then talk to her about it, I see she has 3 older sisters but they don't always put 2 and 2 together at that age so just because her sisters have teeth doesn't mean she realizes she will get them back.......I also have a tooth fairy book, it has traditions from around the world when a child looses a tooth and talks about the tooth fairy using the teeth they "buy" to make a star for the child.......good luck

Give her her tooth back, and stop putting them under her pillow.

My children each wrote a letter to the fairy asking if they could keep their teeth. They wanted to keep the teeth in a special box. The fairy agreed and left a gold dollar coin and their tooth. She also leaves fairy dust on their bed.

Don't give up!

I don't see why it would be a problem. We tell our kids that the tooth fairy is not real & we still give them money for their teeth. I also keep their teeth so they can see them (my oldest thinks it is cool that I save all of his lost teeth & that he can look at them).

I used to sprinkle glitter around my sons room and bed to make it look like pixie dust so it had a real magical effect. He would be so excited! You do not have put money under the pillow, get her a bracelet or necklace (inexpensive of course) maybe she would be excited about a special item rather than the $1 bill. I have a few friends that always did special items instead of money. Their girls would be so excited.Hope this helps

the older girls just want the money. and there is no problem with that. let them earn the money for being brave with there falling teeth. we didnt belive in the tooth fairy as kids. i am wondering if your little one saw you or heard you and knew YOU had it not the tooth fairy. she asked you for the tooth back....meaning you would have it not the tooth fairy. how could she possibly get the tooth back from the fairy? i say talk to her about it and find out if she knows the truth also. with older sisters i bet she knows. and nothing is lost or hurt. six is kind of the beginning ages of knowing whats real or not. good luck.
