I havent been to Seattle and i have sat aside one day in a weekend in March to drive down from Portland. Taking costs into consideration, what is a must see? (besides the space needle of course) should i do th monorail or th land and water duck tour?

What can I do next?

You should do the land and water duck tour, there is also the EMP (Experience Music Project) its pretty cool.

If your a baseball fan, then you should catch a game in Safeco field.

Pikes place market
Science Center
The Zoo
The Art Museum
The Aquarium
Seattle Center
Alki Beach
Alki Point Lighthouse

Theres really so much you can do. Seattle has endless possibilitys and fun things to do. Just depends on what you are in the mood for.

Have fun!

You mean drive 'up' from Portland silly! *I moved to WA from CA and I still say it like you do, hee-hee!

Pike Place Market is a must...there is also a 'bubble gum wall' you can Google that is absolutely Gross but I can't wait to take my kids to it, so they too can leave their mark with chewed gum!

Be prepared the Space Needle is very spendy! I was shocked!

The monorail is cool...but I suggest just walking about down by the Market...there is multiple levels of shopping to look at...and tons of tasty seafood restaurants to choose from...don't forget to stay and watch the fish guys throw the fish, they are famous for it ;)

Taking a ferry, just for the ride can sometimes be fun too (although I don't find it enjoying, the kids do)! There is also a lil' aquarium down there by the water.

Have fun!

Pike Place for sure! They have lots of yummy foods to sample...get the mini donuts! The water duck tour was really fun! It's pretty long though. I did it with my neice and nephew and they were about 12 and 10ish and they loved it too, but if your kids are younger (if you're taking kids that is!) then it might be too long. I would say maybe 7-8 and up would appreciate it, younger than that might not. The science museum is really cool too and there are a ton of good restaurants! Have fun!

In only one day I would stick to Seattle center, there's the space needle, Childrens museum, center house, Childrens theatre, and pacific science center. Pike place market is great, Alki beach, Lincoln park in west Seattle, the ferry is always fun! I'd skip the zoo and aquarium personally. Not as good as other cities we have been to. And if your kids are little I'd skip EMP, it's best appreciated by older kids. The monorail can be fun, but my kids prefer the ferry or space needle.
