Hi mamas. My family is "adopting" a family this Christmas and they have a 7 year old boy who is asking for toys. What is a universal toy any 7 year old boy would like? Not all are in to star wars as much as mine! Ideas? Thanks!

What can I do next?

legos are the number one favorite for boys. I would skip any guns of any kind. As a mom of 3 boys and now 2 grandsons I can tell you that I do not like them in the house. although they say safe kids have been known to shoot pencils and other projectiles out of them. not safe. skip them.

Legos or a Nerf gun.

R/C cars are a great idea, but they eat batteries, and that expense can add up. So if you go that direction, add in a set of rechargable batteries with a charger.

My almost 8 year old son cannot get enough legos. He also likes anything Pokemon.

Beyblades seem to be pretty popular from ages 5- 10(is the oldest I know) but im sure it goes beyond that.

Legos -- think of the parents too. Legos keep them busy for hours.

Remote control car, legos, bed tent, hot wheels, balls (basketball, baseball, football, soccer ball), action figures. I also agree with the posters who said no guns, including nerf type guns. We need to get our kids away from the idea that it's okay to shoot someone, even in play.

Legos and Nerf guns! We just got a Nerf gun that shoots foam discs and son is pretty excited. Legos, though, are ALWAYS at the top of most 4-9 year old boys lists, so you can't go wrong with that!

How about those nano hexbug robot thingies. They have ones that react to sounds, touch, etc. and remote controlled ones. They run on button batteries so you can get a 10 pack for around $3.00. If you don't mind spending a lot, I don't know a 7 year old boy who wouldn't like video games/devices. K'nex or legos, maybe.

Just evaluate those Nerf products carefully, though. Not all moms are thrilled to have Nerf weapons. We had to throw out two of them because our son couldn't resist shooting at his sister. I loathe the Nerf guns for all of the screaming and battles I had over misuse.
