10 minutes in alcohol will disinfect, but I am not familiar with these magnets. You could also try disinfecting wipes and just wipe them off.
I have a ton of the Leap Frog Reg Letter magnets and I am wondering if I can soak them in bleach water to disinfect them. Since they have so many crevices I need to get them clean after a Pink Eye Break out in our home! Please help.

I washed ours in bleach water and dish liquid after my two year old threw his entire set in the trash. I guess he thought he was helping clean up. He has always wanted to help mommy clean (except his toys) and I hope it continues. Anyway, he's five now and I clean them as needed with the bleach/dish soap since his little brother is using them now. And they work as well now as when we got them 4 years ago. I have let them soak for 10-15 before washing with no ill effects.
I think your question probably means, will it damage the magnets to get them wet. I haven't seen them so I don't know, but I beg you, PLEASE do not use bleach on any toys that may go into your child's mouth - or even anything she may touch and then put her fingers in her mouth. Bleach is a very dangerous product - I know many doctors and nurses won't tell you that. http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/household/br... I can recommend a safe alternative, but you may not be able to get it quickly enough for this particular need. So once you determine whether it will damage the magnets or not, please use a SAFE cleanser to clean them. Here's a link to a documentary that will give you an idea of why I'm so obsessed with safe products around our little ones!

I have an in home childcare & I try to keep things as germ-free as possible therefore I spray everything with Chlorox Anywhere spray. We have those same leapfrog letter magnets so I know it's safe on them.
I don't see why not. Bleach water would be the best way, I would think. Just make sure to rinse them off. Also, don't forget to wash all bedding, including the pillows themselves. And throw away any contacts, contact cases, contact solution and any eye makeup. I made the mistake of using some contact stuff and some eyeshadow and my pink eye just kept coming back.
There is no reason you can't disinfect them that way , just be sure they are rinsed well and air dried .Be sure you only leave them in the bleach water a few minutes though.
Hmmm....the question here is the "type" of magnet...do we soak or not soak.
I have the clorox "anywhere" surface bleach spray....which I would recommend...but don't soak them, lay on towel and then spray one side, let them dry and spray the other.
Good luck.
R.,
Yep, you can put them in water. They will be fine. :)
I have the same letters and do it all the time.
Hi R., you should be able to soak them in hot water and bleach.
also run them through the dishwasher.
good luck!! Pink eye is very contaigous. it helps to make sure everyone is washing their hands with antibacterial soap frequently.

If its the same ones I have I wouldnt because they have a chip in them so the "reader" can identitfy them. I would spray them with a bleach solution, like mist it, a few times. I would let it throughly dry between. We had something spill on other chip reader things from Leap Frog and it doesnt say the correct letters anymore! Its kind of expensive to do a repeat buy!
Good luck

do you know someone with a Steamer? that would be your best bet. I have a shark steamer and so does my sister with kids it is the best!
It doesn't hurt ours when I spray them with 10:1 bleach solution and the give a quick rinse. I dry them flat side down so that the H2O falls away and does not get into the peice itself.
