A baby doll and stroller goes a long way! My most favorite stroller is the FP one that looks like a little mini mommy stroller. It's not the umbrella type but more of the Graco type...so cute! I think it was like $25, a great price for the toy in my opinion! You can find it at Toys R Us.

I also like Melissa and Doug puzzles and those stacking blocks that also nest. I also think any outdoor toy would be great for this age too like a Cozy Coupe or a ride on toy. I've seen lots of ride-ons on sale at Target, etc. for the holidays. My son is over 2 and still loves the busy ball bopper thing, that's a great buy. Honestly, at 19 months most toys are fairly educational b/c they are can learn fine motor, gross motor or pretend play trying to be like Mommy, so go for it!

Melissa and Doug have some other great wooden toys besides puzzles - train sets, pretend food sets, etc. For my daughter at that age, I also got her a set of wooden blocks with alphabet letters that she could stack and build with, a magnet board with magnet alphabet letters, a wooden shape sorter (all from M & D) and Playskool's Busy Ball Popper - she loved it! Don't forget some chunky durable board books too!

Art easel, play tent/tunnel, folding sofa/bed, hard books, Little People play sets. All of these were a hit with my girl at that age and she still plays with them (she's almost 3)!

Building blocks - like the big little kid lego's - both my kids were nuts for them

Also since u live in fl like me, a little water table for the back yard is awesome (since it's not too cold here)!! It keeps her busy forever. I got a cheap one for $20 at Big Lots. Nothing fancy but like i said she loves it. A sand table would be fun for her too.
I also got her a cheap little slide for $20 from Big Lots. They need to be supervised, but it's tons of fun for them!
Another idea like someone else said is an art easel, & play tent/tunnel.
I like to lean more toward imaginative play rather than electronic games; it helps them become more creative thinkers. The puzzles are a good idea too, tho, cuz it builds problem-solving skills.. My daughter also loves pop-up books or lift-the-flap books. Her favorite is one where you gotta look for the car/train/truck and when u lift the flap and find it, it makes the noise of that car. She "reads" it alll the time, and she's had it for like 6 months now!! lol Okay, that's about all i can think of at the moment. Hope i helped!

the board/peg puzzles are great. My daycare kids love them!

The larger size Duplo/Legos are fun.

PlayDoh is great, too. Fingerpaints, crayons.....

a little bit of imagination, lots of adult supervision....& you're set!

My girls' favorite toys at that age were shopping cart, baby doll stroller, Little People, and a tricycle with a handle that an adult can push. The Leapfrog fridge sets are great too!

Discovery Toys are all educational and fun. For toddlers, I recommend Caterpillar Shape Sorter (a fun block puzzle that teaches shapes and can also be used for building), Giant Pegboard (endless opportunities for learning that last for years), and Measure Up Pots and Spoons. My favorite toy at her age was a small wood workbench, with pegs and a hammer. I loved banging on it all day.

I think this would be along the lines of what you are looking for.
LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Alphabet Set
It says the letter, then makes the letter sound and then plays a little song about the letter. LeapFrog is great with educational toys that kids love. Also look into the LeapFrog letter factory video. My son taught himself to read at 4 yrs old and I believe that it had a lot to do with LeapFrog products.

DVDs - HBO has a great series of classical baby educational stuff. It is an animation series with classical music, but it is NOT like baby einstein
It starts where the baby boy is really small, he conducts all the songs and narrates in the cutest voice. It is very soothing and she will love it. There are 3 or 4 DVD's in this series. I got my boy The Music Show, The Art Show, and the Poetry show. He is now three and still LOVES it.. nice before bedtime too... If she likes dancing, there is "The dance show" too. Look it up on Youtube to get a feel for it.

Sensory toys are good too. Play dough (I hate play doh yuk) crayons and wonderful coloring books.

Electronic toys - Scout is great for learning abc's and phonics(violet, for girls) and they also have a range of other educational toys with the puppy... a laptop, musical instruments and allot more.. (fridge toys, etc.)

You get a magnetic barn that you can stick on the fridge with 5 or so animals (in two magnetic parts - backside and head), she can mix and match and it makes really funny songs. "A COW-Horse? That's silly!!" then she sings the song.. or if she matches them up, she gets a "well done!" and another song or some information on that animal. It also plays other tunes when you press the chicken. (Old mac donald and more)
