Hi Moms, we're looking at getting my daughter training pants. She's a big girl at 36 lbs. I was hoping some of you moms might have some suggestions about a good brand. I looked at the Baby Center website and I just wasn't too sure. I'd rather go with a recommendation. Thanks!

Hi L. -
We used cloth diapers on my daughter and she was able to get her diapers off very easily so, we didn't really use the training pants much but, I do carry them in my store. http://www.lovebugsco.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=Trainin... I personally like the Happy Heiny trainers better because they snap on the sides so that if she has a poop accident, you don't have to pull it down her legs. It also has a pocket in the back so you can add as much absorbancy as you need.. ie more for overnights, long trips, etc.. HTH : )

HI L.,
I also have a big 3 year old and he uses the good night training pants for nighttime. They work great!! I get them at Wal-Mart.

Personally I have found with working with many children over the years that pull-ups are a waste of money if that is what you are referring to. Kids that wear them typically take many months to train instead of a week or so. Of all the children I've trained one day naked in the bathroom to figure things out and then a few days running around in teri cloth underwear or just cute underwear was all it took. Arm yourself with a can of carpet cleaner for a few accidents but it will be over in a week instead of wasting huge amounts of money on glorified diapers for six months to a year or more.

I've known kids that wore pull-ups for over a year. So they weren't really trained...they just finally got tired of being wet at age five or so. All the children I've trained were done between 19 months and 2 1/2.

Teri cloth or plain cute little underwear from Walmart.

Good luck!!

I just potty trained my 28 month old son....
We kept him in diapers until he was hitting better than 50%. At that point I went to Target and bought the cheap Gerber ones - the ones that look like underwear and DON'T have a waterproof cover. I cloth-diapered my kids so I just threw a diaper cover on over the training pants when he went out. He potty trained really fast so we only needed to do this for a week or so. Now we just wear the training pants like normal underwear.

We just used the Gerber training pants and found them at target...they worked really well because there wasn't too much of a mess if my son had an accident, but he still knew he was wet...those were the only "training pants" we used...other than that we just used regular underwear...good luck :)

I ended up going with the training pants on pottypatty.com - they were a happy medium between diapers and big girl underwear and she could feel the wetness in them. They also have waterproof varieties which made it virtually mess free. I also used Seventh Generation Pull Ups for naptime and bedtime - very pleased with their Pull Up!

I have the opposite problem...my daughter is only 20 lbs at 2 1/2. My mother-in-law found some really good, absorbent underwear at www.pottypatty.com. She also got some underwear covers and a DVD that my daughter loves. Good luck!!

Hi

I've been using the training pants from 'ONE STEP AHEAD.COM' for my 2 1/2 yr old daughter. Check out the website. The training pants are 9.95 each and so far I love them. They also sell the night time traning pants as well. Good luck.

"Luvable Friends" has padded underwear in sizes four and five. They shrink like crazy in the dryer, but they're the most absorbent pants around. I think you can get them on Amazon - just Google "Luvable Friends" and it should give you plenty of results.

I have found that training pants are good when you need to catch an oops. Otherwise, diapers or pull ups work.

I like Bummis and they run large. My 38 lber wears medium. Here's a Website.

I wish I had bought these last year instead of spending money on gerber. They are much more expensive. But 4 of these would have lasted longer and worked better. These Bummis get more absorbent and better the more they're washed. It's important not to wash with fabric softner.

I'm thinking you are looking for the thick waffle like ones. I didn't find them at target, but I heard babys r us has them. They do have a larger size because one of my sons was almost 4 when he was finished with potty training and that is what he wore. Good Luck!

I really like the ones they sell at Hanna Anderson -- organic cotton and very soft(yet strong enough for multiple washes) - only downside is there aren't any "characters" on them if that is more your daughter's preference. They come in three packs and may be a bit more pricey than most...
