there is no easy way. we went through this a couple weeks ago. i am not sure if my 26 mo is extra stubborn but it took about a week with him. he started jumping out of his crib so we converted to a toddler bed (same thing as yours converts also to full). anyway everytime he would get out we would just walk him back to bed without speaking to him or looking at him. the first night it took at least 50 times (almost an hour and half). the second night was about 45 minutes. the third maybe half hour. after that we also reversed the door lock so it locks from the outside and we locked the door (recommended by our pediatrician). so he tried the door couldn't get out and he went back to bed on his own. at night now he is usually good and stays in bed. he might get up once or twice but he'll go back to bed on his own within a few minutes. it's the morning we are having trouble with now. our 7:30-7:30 sleeper became a 7:30 to 6 sleeper. it's really hard! i'm trying to find anyone who has tips on how to get their toddler to sleep longer. good luck!

We went right to a twin bed with a rail so the kids wouldn't roll out! It was awesome and went very smoothly. They didn't get out of bed after we put them down and loved being a "big girl" or "big boy" (depending on which child we are talking about!)

With my son we actually used a Day Bed turned towards the wall - he thought that was totally cool! :) And we loved that he wouldn't fall out.

We made it an adventure to both the kids and let them know what a big kid they were and had no problems with either of them.

Enjoy your little one!

We never did the toddler bed, we went straight from crib to twin bed. I didn't want to have to go through transitioning to a big bed after transitioning to the toddler bed, so we cut out the middle man! We had safety rails on the twin bed, and my daughter was afraid to climb down off of the twin bed herself so it worked great for us, she NEVER got out of bed. I don't have any advice on transitioning to the toddler bed, but I would highly recommend going right into the big bed instead.

My crib didn't convert like yours so we went to a toddler bed. I did it at 2. I was the best decision I made. My son was not having issues crawling out of his crib or anything to me it was just a developmental thing and he was getting too heavy to lift over the side of the crib. The first time he slept on the floor in front of the baby gate, but since then he has loved it. Three months later he now tells us when he is tired and goes in and crawls in bed. He has never gotten out during the night and it has worked great. I think every kid is going to react differently. I would strongly recommend a baby gate in his door frame. We use the one with a solid plexiglass front. We also transitioned him for the first time during naptime so we could try to see how he would do. That is when he slept on the floor, but that night he did great. Just stick with your normal bedtime routine and see how he does.

I transitioned my first son from a crib to a twin bed at 10 mos, he never fell out or rolled over much, he is a steady sleeper. My 2nd son 15 mos, however is a roller and sleeps crazy, so I just transitioned him from his crib to a day bed (the crib does that by removing a side) and putting the other side to the wall. He hasn't fell out yet, so I think it depends on the child, how they sleep. My decision to move them out early was based on them crying and being able to come to find Mommy without being "encaged" A crib after a certain age to me seems to do disable that. It's up to you and your child.

If you don't truly have to move your toddler, don't. That's my advice! Keep them in the crib as long as possible. If you do have to move them then I too suggest going straight to a twin or even full size bed. The bigger the bed the easier it is for you to lay down with them if necessary, especially in these first few days/weeks of the big bed. Also, it would be easier to read stories in bed and tend to them if they are sick.

Can i ask why you are trying to do this so young? wait until later on or when the child starts climbing out. once that happens let her help with getting the bed ready and maybe new sheets
