Hello,
Does anyone know what I need to do in order to travel with my baby without the father. Do I need a notarized consent. My husband will join us at a different date in Canada. My son just received his passport.
Thanks

What can I do next?

yes, you need a notarized consent from your husband. as an aside, we are a two-mom family, both of us are listed on the birth certificate. We carried this as well as the court documents establishing both of us as our son's only legal parents (he was conceived thru anonymous donor insemination). We got a big hassle going through Canadian Customs because of the letter issue. It was finally resolved, but with a great deal of stress. I've heard from a lot of folks who have been held up, so don't try to do it without the letter.

I have traveled to England and France with my kids and no husband without anything other than their passports. In order to get the passport both parents either have to be present or a notarized form must be filled out (which I am sure you know since you already have the passport) but nothing additional has ever been required for my travels.

I am from Canada and now live in Chicago so I travel to Toronto every few months on my own with my 3 year old. I was told by the airline since her first trip at 6 weeks that I need to travel with a consent letter from my husband. I never got it notorized by have been asked if the child's father is aware that she is travelling with me so I just pull out the letter signed by him and there is no problem. You might want to double check with your airline.

good luck with your travels.

I really don't think so, I've travelled to several locations without my husband and just my daughter. I've never heard of such thing. Just the passport should be fine.

If the little one has a passport then you should be ok. Since the both of you were needed to be present to obtain a passport for your son. Just in case, have a notarized consent drawn up for the border. I'm extra careful like that.
