I need some good ideas as to what to bring to school to celebrate my sons 4th birthday. They prefer no cake or cupcakes because of the mess and no peanuts is the only other limitation. I would like to make it, not buy it. Of course I would like it to be original, but not too complicated... Am I asking too much? LOL Any ideas are appreciated

What can I do next?

Have you ever made MUD or Sand? All it is. is cookies and pudding. Mud is with Oreos and chocolate pudding and put gummy worms on top. Sand is Vanilla pudding and Nilla waffers and I have been trying to find white chocolate sea shells. I have done these for B'days and all ages love them!

Hi! I would double check the pre-school treats policy first. At my kids' preschool, I couldn't bring in home-made treats...they had to be store bought so the ingredients were listed. There were just too many allergies in the school to take any chances. That being said, for a treat, your could make cream cheese and strawberry jam sandwiches, then get cookie cutters in a shape your son likes and use them to cut out the sandwiches. It's a sweet treat, but much more healthy, especially if you use whole wheat bread. Or rice krispies treats are always good, especially if you put in a touch of food coloring to make them fun colors (mix it into the melted butter/marshmallow part). Have fun!!

I think cupcakes in ice cream cones are fun because they look like ice cream. You just bake the cones in the oven, and frost them afterward. I don't know if they are cleaner than regular cupcakes, but this is my only idea right now! Good luck!

I have a great recipe for caramel brownies if you're interested. Other than a little sticky, it's not messy. The last post is good, but you might double check fruit allergies before deciding on a jam. My son is allergic to strawberries. The teacher should know, or the school office. Also, check on dairy for the cream cheese. 'Course, the brownies also have dairy (milk) and chocolate. You could also do ants on a log and substitute cream cheese or veggie dip for the peanut butter. You might check as well if it's just peanuts or all nuts. You can always substitute almond butter or something along those lines. GL! Have fun!

Take some baby carrots or apple slices. Most kids like them, and they aren't common allergies. You could also make some fun cookies. Get on the Parents Magazine website, they always have fun and creative ideas for treats.
