Trick or Treating near Lakewood Park (Off Mockingbird and Williamson)

We recently moved to the area near Lakewood Park off of Mockingbird and Williamson and are trying to decide what to do for Halloween. Will there be lots of trick-or-treaters in the area? If not we might try to find a church event or trunk-or-treat to attend instead of staying home and handing out candy.

What can I do next?

Lived in Lakewood since I was born, and I take my kids to trick or treat in our neighborhood. Our part of Lakewood, (Pasadena and White rock) is pretty close knit, so I know everyone.
If time allows, I go up to my parents on Lakewood, but I get a bit frustrated with all the bussed in kids. It would not bother me, except these kids are often very rude.

(And really, they bring huge school busses)

There is a trunk or treat this coming SUNDAY evening, Oct. 26 in the Lake HIghlands area at Northlake Elementary. I'm pretty sure that it's from 6 - 7ish p.m.

Hi L. -- Welcome to Dallas! I would say that since your daughter is just seven months old, why not stay at home and hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters? You'll have plenty of years when your daughter is older that you can take her trick-or-treating and you might not be home to hand out candy. Whatever you decide, hope you have fun!

L.,

We live close by and we always go to Forest Hills on the other side of White Rock to trick or treat. Big houses, lots of kids, and great candy. Safe...etc.

Our church has a great event on Halloween night- Fall Fun Fest at Northwest Bible Church (northwestbible.org). There is a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses, games, and lots of candy. There has even been live music in the past. Our kids have always enjoyed it and we've gone to this event instead of trick-or-treating. Everything is free except the food, which is very cheap.

We live in the area as well. There are TONS of kids on Lakewood Ave. My only advice is go early, some people get driven in - they have haunted houses set up, people sitting in lawn chairs in their front yards. Very fun.
