I have 5 boys and we would like one more child. Obviously we would really like to have a girl. So my question is this. Any advice on how to get one? Anything that has worked for you? I know its ultimately in God's hands, however there are things we can do in the natural too I'm sure. Thanks
Well, I just found out I'm pregnant! We'll find out in May if I got my girl or if a 6th boy will be brought into our home. Although I'd obviously prefer a girl, I already love my little poppy seed sized baby whether he's a Mason or she's a Gloriana. Thank you God for our new little sweet pea. :-)
It may have been just luck, but we used the chinese gender predictor. There are a lot of them on line, I used this one http://www.babycenter.com/chinese-gender-predictor. It was right that I was having a boy the first time. We really wanted a girl the second time we started trying, so I used the calendar to find out what month would work. It's definitely not a scientific way of doing things, but it has been right for my pregnancies.
Well, you first have to ask yourself if you are prepared for another child and if you are prepared to possibly have another boy. My brother and his wife continuously tried for a boy, and after their 6th girl they finally gave up. Not to discourage you, because it could happen, but being practical the odds don't seem to be in the favor of having a girl...
I read several books, and the one that seemed the most research based was The Shettles Method. All I can say is it worked for us!

You've got a lot of great advice so far...just wanted to add my 2 cents...are your kids' birthdays around the same time? I have 5 kids...4 boys and a girl...my boys were all born in October and my girl was born in February...so maybe switching up your trying to conceive time? I knew she was a girl when the Dr. told me her due date! :)

Congratulations on the big family! Just wanted to thank you for asking the question! I have two boys and would love a girl and 3 is all I think I can handle, so one more for us and that is it. If it is a boy I know that is what is meant to be but doesn't hurt to try for a girl!

Honestly, it is a 50/50 shot each time. Doing all this swaying may increase you chances by 1 or 2%. Of course, of all the people that try for a girl, 1/2 of them will tell you it 'worked' because they got a girl. But there is no way to tell if any swaying really worked or not. And think of all those with b/g twins....obviously it is not all timing or pH.
I had two boys. Tried like heck to get a girl (did all the supplements, timing, took clomid, used sun/moon signs, etc) and it was boy number three. I don't believe it works....seen too many people that have tried and failed. And it sets you up to think that this is your girl because you tried so hard for her....that is until your ultrasound.
The only 100% is using IVF with pgd (which we tried too, but didn't get pregnant).
Our fourth and final child was a girl....but with absolutely no swaying. it was an oops (cycles weird after IVF) and if you look back to timing and some swaying factors...it was a pretty good boy attempt. So my girl attempt gave me a boy....and a boy attempt gave me a girl.
I am sorry I am such a sourpuss over this. Some people make it seem so easy to have a girl...all you have to do is 'x, y, z'. But it simply is not true. If it was, do you think there would be gendercide in other countries? And the person who really figures it out would be one rich person!! Please do not invest a lot of time or energy into this, it could leave you heartbroken.
Enjoy that perfect family you have and if you seriously want a girl....research IVF/PGD. Otherwise, expect #6 to be a baby.....nothing more.
Well since you have 5 boys it probably has nothing to do when they were concived. It 's got to be your PH levels, that can be changed with the foods you eat.We have 2 boys, my eating was about the same when they were concived. However with our 3rd one(32 weeks preg, they say it's a girl:)) it was totally different due to the stress in our lives. When I looked up (after the fact)what ph levels are good for a girl it was right on target.You can find the charts online.
But ultimatly it is in God's hands:)
the chinese calendar chart thingy is pretty neat, and seems to be accurate a lot of the time :P :P
but also, sometimes i think it has to do with what you eat and the acidity of your body, or not. i think acidity = girl ... but you can do some checking
no matter what you do though God's gonna give you the child you are meant to have, boy or girl, with whatever personality that child is supposed to have among other things. :) im glad you are someone who feels that way.

There's a book about this--I haven't read it, but what I've heard is that if you want a girl, you need to chart your fertility, then try several days before your expected ovulation date. Then don't have unprotected sex again before or immediately after ovulating.
