I would definitely wait two weeks. I would also suggest fertilityfriend. There's so much to learn there.
if i have sex while ovulating...how long do i have to wait til i test myself? i have VERY irregular periods...
Never mind, I'm pregnant. The ovulation test must have picked up the LH level or whatever...so hooray!

Definitely wait two weeks. Don't get trapped into the habit of spending your money on EPT's. The Walgreens Brand, or other generic ones are fine if you wait that long (14 days). Otherwise, if you test too early and its negative, you'll just go out a few days later and buy another test. As someone who tried to conceive for 3 years, and spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on EPTs, I want to tell you, if you can possibly wait, do! The home pregnancy test industry is making MILLIONS from people who test too early.
Good Luck!
Hi A.!!
Usually they say u can test around 12-15 days after ovulation!!
Hope that helps!!
Many women can get a positive result from 9 plus days past ovulation. The best way to get a result sooner is to choose the most sensitive pregnancy test. You can check out peeonastick.com to see which brands have the highest sensitivity.
I would say that you need to wait at least 14 days from when you ovulated before you test. Sometimes you can get + results sooner, but 14 days is probably good
A preg test definitely will not pick up on anything until at LEAST 12 days post ovulation. Probably more like 14 days. Figure that your fertilized egg won't definitely be implanted until around 10 dpo and then your body needs a few days to ratchet up the hormone levels so they are detectable.
I agree fertilityfriend is great (www.fertilityfriend.com). I also had VERY irregular periods, and actually I conceived #2 when my son was 16 months old - and without ever getting my period back after having him! Thanks to charting my temps I knew I had ovulated, though, so my dates on this pregnancy are perfect.
Your luteal phase (the time from when you ovulate to the time you have your period is usually the same for people; usually around 11-14 days). Do you know how long yours is? I would keep a record of it, and test the day you expect your period. I used fertilityfriend.com to help me conceive. Also, I use Natural Family Planning(I use ccli.org), and that helps you to avoid pregnancy without using birth control(I don't believe in using it), or to help you conceive. It teaches SO much about our bodies and what is going on throughout your cycle, that I think it's invaluable to all women, and they teach you stuff like that. Or get the book Taking Control of Your Fertility.
Good luck!
I got a + at 11 days post ovulation with a Dollar Store test. They cost about $1.06!!!
Agreed - two weeks is the right amount of time to wait from ovulation. The trick about irregular periods is knowing when you ovulate.
Good luck!
