My husband and I would like to try for a girl. I got a few tips online about how to make this happen but I'm wondering if it really works. Anyone have any experience with trying to select a gender? Did it work out for you? What did you do? Thanks!

What can I do next?

The only way to guarantee a specific sex is adoption. IVF MIGHT work, but you have to work with a specific lab to do the selection.

There are a ton of old wives tales about diets and such, but in my opinion? They are just that - old wives tales.

Just have fun. Take what you get and be happy!

The only sure way is to do IVF, test embryos for gender and then only use the females for implantation.
Everything else is pretty much just luck and folklore.

IVF but that seems over the top for what is essentially a preference, not a health issue.

You have a 50/50 chance. If you will only be happy with one gender over the other then I would suggest adoption.

i'm sure science will get there pretty soon.
but it's not there yet.
i suggest you go for 'healthy baby' and try not to be disappointed if you don't get the 'right' sex.

It is the men that determine the sex of the child. Find a man who has fathered lots of girls...JK..

The goal is to have a happy healthy child.. Otherwise, you are not ready to really be a parent..

For my second, I did that. I was hoping for a boy. It worked for me. I followed the suggestions in the book, How to choose the sex of your baby by Shettles. I'm lucky that I get "ovulation" pain and can tell when my egg is released. I also tracked other signs to know exactly when I was ovulating. With my daughter we had sex much earlier than ovulation. With my son, we had to really pinpoint ovulation. There are other things in the book too about frequency and more.

My friend did the same thing, but wanted girl. She got her girl. We both knew it was just a way of helping mother nature though! I would have been thrilled either way. In fact, I didn't find out what I was having, so it would be even more of a surprise.

Old wives tales are just merely that- tales. IVF is it. Of course my mother in law swears that if you are on top while having sex- that works. She has had three daughters this way.

acidic vs alkaline diet? My sister had 3 boys using an alkaline diet, then a girl using an acidic one. I can't recall whose plan she followed, her youngest is now 21, but you could check into it and see if you think it would help!

I'm not sure there is much you can do to sway.. both mine (one boy, currently pregnant with girl) had sex everyday.. so I would have thought that might go more boy but it really is just chance.

I know it's supposed to be all random and 50/50 and all but...

My husband has 4 boys & 1 girl. All 4 of the boys are born within 2 weeks of eachother in October & that's having 2 different mothers.

When we found out our youngest due date was not in October I thought she had a chance...& she did! LOL!

So switch things up from "routine" all around?

That's the best I got! Good Luck!
