Trying to Find a Church Home in Olathe

My husband and I are looking for a new church home in Olathe. I was raised Catholic and my husband was raised Baptist. Neither one of us has been very good about going to church in the last 10 years but now feel that we need to get religion back in our lives, for ourselves and our sons, 7yrs and 16 months. We are pretty open to any Christian denomonatin. We are looking for a church that is very active for young families. We really like Church of the Ressurection in Leawood, but it's so big and so far from our house. Something with more of a small town feel would be nice. Also, a good youth program is important. Any thoughts?

Hi, My family and I attend Life Church in Olathe (www.getlife.info). It is a non-denominational Christian church that is committed to teaching straight from the word of the Bible. It has an awesome youth program. Your older son would be involved in a group called HQ that is very educational in a fun way! In fact they are expanding in order to accomodate more children because they are so commited to speaking to children. It is a very upbeat and open church. The first time I went there, I have to admit that I was a little shocked because it is really directed for a younger crowd. The first 20 minutes or so is worship time with a live band. Life church is very famly orientated and I absolutely love it there. I hope you come by and give it a try. It's really like no other church I've ever been to! Feel free to email me if you have any other questions I can answer about it! ____@____.com
I also wanted to add that my husband was raised Baptist as well and I grew up in a Catholic environment, so we definitely knew those sides too.

I have another church home in KC, but I have been to Life church before, and it sounds like it might be just what you are looking for. Good luck!

My church home is in Overland Park, but that's fairly close to Olathe. :) It is on approximately 127th and Quivira. Heritage United Methodist. They have a great children's and youth ministry there. I love it! Everyone is incredibly welcoming and it's just a great place to worship.
Hope to see you there :)

We meet with a home church in OP. There are 5 couples - all different ages and we discuss the Bible. If you are interested in more information and/or location, please feel free to let me know.

Wow - some reason I just got this today. So you may have already found a place, but anyway:

I attend Mill Creek Community Church. It is near K-7 and 83rd Street. It's actually in Shawnee, but would still be close if you live in the northwest part of Olathe. It is a growing church, but still has that small-church feel, too. The children's programs are excellent. My youngest son has bi-polar, and they have been so awesome working with him, and supporting and encouraging me on those Sundays where I have to take him out of the sanctuary over and over. They also have a Wednesday night program for age 3 through 6th grade. They have special events throughout the year for the kids. A couple weeks ago they had a Christmas Party/parents day out for a few hours. The kids got to make presents, play games, and have fun while the parents got a few hours for whatever they wanted to do. They've also done this in the evening before for a parents' date night.

Mill Creek was originally a church plant from Olathe Bible Church, and they do believe in preaching directly from the Bible. The pastor actually teaches more than preaches. He explains the historical context and the translation process as he teaches through a passage. He has a sense of humor that comes through a lot as well.

Their website is www.millcreek-kc.org I would be happy to meet you there if you decide to visit. Just send me an e-mail at ____@____.com if you need more info!
