It's been almost six month since my daughter was born. She is great and a real charmer. She sleeps well and eats great. The problem at te moment is the weight she left me with.

I did not gain alot of weight with my daughter, but what I did has "hung around" since the birth. Those ten extra pounds have put a real damper on me. I feel tired and lazy. I was wondering if there might be any weight loss advice out there.

I am a stay at home mom and my husband is in the navy. So this means long hours, so not much time for a gym or the like. Any ideas for exercises I can from home????

What can I do next?

hi there -

i gained 56 lbs w/my daughter - it took me 10 full months to lose it all...havent been able to even LOOK at another pop tart...

if u can, buy a treadmill or an elliptical machine - the way i lost it was cardio - cardio, cardio, cardio - like an hour a day, 4-5 days a week - put her in an exersaucer or do it while she's napping (that's what i did)
the good news is, if she's not walking yet she will be soon and u'll be so bz chasing her u'll lose even more weight! LOL

good luck!

I have baby fat and pre-baby fat I am trying to get rid of. I did Weight Watchers last year and lost about 20lbs. The meetings are weekly and inexpensive. I thought I could do it on my own through the holidays. HA! I am back on it now and have lost 4 lbs this week. I got back on my treadmill and sometimes I even work-out with my 4 yr old and her Bella Dancerella dance video. It gets me moving! Good Luck! My sister and her husband used to live in Long Beach. He was an officer in the Navy but I think worked out at Stennis Space Center. They have been out of Long Beach for about 3-4 years.
I am also a Mary Kay Consultant and you can check out my website for some info on a home-based business. www.marykay.com/lisaownby and click on "start a business" and www.unitnet.com/lisaownby and click on "customers/guests"

e-mail me if you have any questions.

I am located in Knoxville, TN but if you are interested we have no territories so I can set you up with someone down there that can help you get started!

Eating healthy makes you actually lose the weight, working out just makes it looks good. I understand you perfectly. My hubby is a bodybuilder and personal trainer on the side so I can may offer a few pointers. Start by just changing your eating habbits. Limit the carbs, drink plenty of water, eat your vegi and fruit. Stay away from the drinks and not too much juice and milk. If you drink milk then make it low fat. For dairy, try yogurt. There are so many exercises you can do at home. To be honest, my hubby trains where women are able to not depend on the weights at the gym, but invest in small weight equipment to lose it at home. You mention that it is not but an extra ten pounds. Well, you are already doing well. Thats not much at all. Get some fitness magazines and try watching the fitness channel for your cardio. Cardio is very important. Thats something you can do by just taking a walk with the baby. Especially when the weather is nice and it permits. Just start small and end big. It will work. You just have to make it work... Good luck!!!

It took me more than a year to drop the extra weight. I gained a little back and noticed that I was eating a bite here and a bite there of my daughter's food and other stuff lying around. Make a concerted effort only to eat your food, not hers, and not to keep junk in the house. If it isn't there, you won't eat it.

It's hard to find the time to exercise, even if you're home all the time. So if you have exercise DVDs or tapes and just a few minutes, then there's nothing wrong with doing just 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Do that a few times a day, and you've gotten in your recommended 30 minutes. Just find something you love to do and mix it up sometimes so you don't get bored. Cardio is fine, but strength training is important, too. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism burns.

If you're online a lot, you might want to try a diet/fitness Web site. I like eDiets.com (it has meal plans, shopping lists and fitness and lots of choices), but there are lots out there. Good luck!

I personally dropped all but 7 pounds in a month. It took about 9 months after baby to lose last 7. Some things you can do is park farther away at store in order to walk a little more. Take baby on walks when weather permits (how I lost 1st babies weight) and use baby to exercise. I would lift my daughter with my legs or lift her into the air- she thought it was a game but it actually helps tone up arms, legs and butt!!!!

I know how you feel.... My suggestions would be some that people say are obvious and some people don't realize how such little things can help. Take the baby and go for a walk (maybe you could look into a jogging stroller) or you can get a step (or use something that you have) to do exercises, an exercise ball, a resistance band. There are lots of useful things at Target and if you aren't sure of the exercises or want more you can always find them on the internet. I would stay away from anything that is real expensive or big and bulky because if you want to lose about 10 lbs you don't really need that. If you want to message me I can maybe give you some more ideas or tips. Also one more important thing is to drink PLENTY PLENTY of water!! I know people don't think it helps but it really does. I've been dealing with this for a couple of years and also remember that stress or anxiety maybe holding you back (I never realized that just everyday stress was causing me to gain weight). Good luck and like I said feel free to message me. :)

My saving grace was joining a gym that had child care. I just had my 4th 3 weeks ago and can't wait to take the kids back there: I can also take worry-free showers! :-)

Hey girl,

I also have a six month old and am just now starting to fit into a few pairs of pants that were big on me before I was pregnant. With my first daughter, now 2 1/2, it took me about 9 months before I got back into some of my old pants. It normally takes close to a year to loose your weight (if you gained the recommended 25 to 35 pounds) unless you excercise regularly (who has time?). Mine just came off by nursing and drinking a lot of water-eating enough but not overeating. I am excited because I only have about 8 more pounds to lose. I would give it a few more months before you get to concerned. It's harder in the winter time because it's cold outside and you don't want to get out there with the stroller. It's not really normal to lose baby weight in just a few months. It takes closer to a year.
Good luck and God bless!

Greetings O.,
I have two kids of my own my youngest is 9 months. I lost all the weight plus two extra sizes in a month by breast feeding, not pumping but actually breast feeding with no use of bottles. I also try and walk whenever I can and always slung the baby in an african type sling which is all hands free.
I am not sure if you breast feed but this is what all my friends have done. Also, if you know your blood type and eat for that particular type that helps too. If you are interested I can tell you where to get that info.
Have a great day and good luck.

It took me almost 9 months to lose the 40 pounds I gained while pregnant. It takes a long time! Don't give up though! Drink plenty of water and try to limit your portions. The weight will eventually come off as long as you keep active and watch what you eat. Good luck!

After I had my daughter i had the same problem. I started just doing some basic exercises such as cruches and leg lifts. I did just a few a day while my daughter slept. Sometimes i would hold her on my stomach whil doing cruches and play peek a boo with her she loved it plus i was getting a work out. I also uses her a weights (ha ha) laid on my back a nd lifted her up and when i brought her down i would tickle her belly. This way your killing two birds with one stone getting a work out and spending time with your baby girl. When the weather is good pull out the stroller and take a walk through the park. hope this helps
