So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for responding and giving me some of your stories. that helped me. my question is for GW. You was awake during the procedure. did it feel weird or anything. How long did it take you to heal? Im planning my surgery in 2012 for March or April. I can't stand looking pregnant and most of all I don't want to look pregnant for the summer really tired of the kangaroo pouch and muffin top. omg that is the worst. I can't wait. Im going to broad cast a site where everyone can follow me and see my before and after pictures. thanks everyone for the response.

I had a tummy tuck on May 27th....it was the best decision I could have made. I had a very saggy lower tummy, I mean seriously, the flapping kind after losing 78 lbs over the last two years not to mention a twin full term pregnancy six years ago. I thought it was a pretty easy surgery all things considered. It was done outpatient with versed as my anesthetic drug. I was completely awake but have no memory of the surgery nor the rest of the day after. I would say the pain was about a 7 but hydrocodone for the first couple of days helped me sleep through a lot of it. You will have to wear the very tight compression garment for a week to ten days and that helps a lot with the incision discomfort as well. Really, after about 3 days, you should feel pretty ok. The pain will gradually subside but there will be some numbness that will last for many months, I still have it. But overall, I recovered quickly and am so pleased with the result soif you have a good doctor that you trust then I say go for it. And in case you are wondering, I paid $8500 for my tummy and side tuck...no muffin tops for me :-)

I am in the same boat but had C-sections. Working on weight loss now...some day will have the tummy tuck.....but for now have to look at the hanging shelf...sigh.....

The surgery itself is pretty painful as it is abdominal surgery. You will have to wear a spanx like contraption to hold the skin in until the swelling goes down. I think it's worth it.

I will be watching the responses on here. I am 31, had 3 babies in 20 months. My oldest was 20 months old when I had the twins. my twins are now 9 months old and my oldest is just about 2 1/2.

I actually lost all the baby weight from the twins plus about 10 pounds within 2 months of having them, but I still have all the excess skin, doesnt really matter what I do all the extra flabby skin is still there and I HATE it, makes me feel so self conscious. I didnt have a flat tummy to begin with, but I still look like i'm a few months pregnant. My hubby said he will let me go to get the tummy tuck, probably not for at least another year and even then it will take a financial miracle, he even said he would figure out a way to "finance it".....funny because he is still super attracted to me, I think he just knows how horrible I feel about myself. so, hopefully you start getting some good answers soon!

I had one 4 years ago. I am not a thin woman, and I had a hanging stomach that you could reach under about 4 inches. It caused me all sorts of discomfort and screwed up my healing (never healed properly) from my C-section in 2002. Fast forward to now, still a size 14, but my tummy is pretty flat and the scar is nearly invisible. I can't believe how NOT noticeable it is at this point and I had a major one, hip to hip abdominoplasty. One of the best decisions I ever made.

I had a tummy tuck - the 1st week will be extremely painful but going to the 2nd week it'll get easier. My husband had to help me as getting up but very very hard (i have a 5 year old which he needed to tend to). You'll be swollen and may have "regrets" but as time goes by you'll look fabulous...1 1/2 year later i still have the scar but have noticed that some dark areas have lightened up...when i "remember" a use scar creams etc...although i'll always have a scar but it's to minimize it. I "you tubed" the actual procedure of it and knew exactly what to expect = some people even posted their day by day progress. I highly recommend it, some people may "knock it" but after they seen the results i get nothing but compliments. Good luck!
