I'm thinking about having a tummy tuck to remove the skin that stretched during my two pregnancies and goes over my scars from two c-sections. I had abdominal surgery as a child to repair a kidney problem so my scar is much larger than a typical c-section scar. I feel like I have a built in front 'fanny' pack and it makes my tummy flabby causes me to get irritating sweaty rashes. No matter how much more weight I loose my OB says the skin won't go away.
I figure the surgery can't be any worse than a c-section and since I'm not having another child now is time to consider it.
Any advice from someone who has had a tummy tuck - doctors to see, avoid, what it was like etc.
Ditto the rec for Dr. Jennifer Harrington. She is awesome. I had some work done to my face and I'm really pleased with the results.
I say go for it! I had a br. reduction with Dr. Jennifer Harrington in Edina about 5 years ago and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. She is really cool and really knows her stuff. I had this done pre-child (thank the Lord) and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

I would do it if I could. My c-section scar is almost from hip to hip so I can imagine a tummy tuck hurting more than that. Let us know if you go through with it. PS ask your family doc for references of where to go.

I am a mom of 4, 3 of which are triplets, so I can totally relate with the "mommy flap". I went to Dr. G. last year to see about breast augmentation, and a tummy tuck. The two sugeries together would have been too costly, so I opted to do the breast augmentation first, then the tummy tuck. I had the surgery done in June of '06, and absolutly LOVE the outcome of my breasts! They look/feel very natural. This year I am going to have the tummy tuck, and have every confidence that he will do a remarkable job. ( The photos and testaments that I have read/seen assure me of this). He is very personable, and very knolegable of his practice and I would recomend him to anyone. Best wishes, T.
Go see Dr. James Foley. He did my breast reduction and he is awesome he is an older man but he has been written up as one of the best plastic surgeons I am thinking Of going back to him some time.
I say DO IT!!!! I have only one child and I didn't have a C section but I was so worried my stomach would not go back to normal. I was really lucky and it did. But I have other issues with my body due to having a child that I am dying to fix. If you are bothered by it and it gives you a rash than go for it. It can only make you feel better. Advice: make sure the surgeon is Board certified. That means they had to pass tests above and beyond the norm.
I would love to get one but won't because I'm too scared. A lady where I grew up died of an infection from hers. I don't know all of the circumstances behind her death but it just freaks me out.
Do your research and find a Dr. with a great track record.

If I had the money I'd do it.
I think it is alot worse than a c-section from what I've heard and seen. I had friend do this after her 3 children and I went over to help clean and tend to her kids. She looked horrible, miserable and was in alot of pain. I've had a c-section and I didn't look or feel as bad as she did. So if you have the support and help from family and friends to take care of you and help with your children go for it.
