In our school district - the school provides a list of retired teachers that our willing to tutor. Speak to your childs teacher she may know someone! Talk to your principal - there might be someone in the school that tutors. We also have a tutor program at the local high school and they tutor and mentor younger kids. Make the calls - it doesn't hurt to ask if your schools do the same!

Talk to the school guidance counselor. THey usually know people who tutor and have lists.

Many teachers tutor on the side for extra money. We've paid anywhere from $40 for 1/2 hr violin lessons, to $50 math/LA tutor to brush up on techniques.
