Tween - What Under Pantyhose?

Wow - NOBODY wears pantyhose anymore. Especially not in the summer. I don't see why her underwear would be showing under a knee length skirt. If you are concerned about show through - she should just wear nude color underwear. Pale pink generally does not show through either.

Why is she wearing panty hose in the first place?

They are pretty much out of style for everyone. .. Many Brides do not even wear panty hose under their gowns any longer.

She should just wear lotion on her legs..

If you insist on panty hose then nude panties. or biker shorts if it is a super short dress or skirt.

Nude or light pink (I'm assuming she's white/Caucasian.)
Is this for a dance performance or something? I only ask because the only person I know who still wears pantyhose in everyday life is my 67 year old mother! I think the last time I wore them was in 1983 :)

If it were me, I'd wear none, that's what the cotton gusset is for. But then if it were me I would absolutely refuse to wear panty hose in the summer...

If it were my daughter, she'd probably want to wear panties. I would go buy her some good quality "no-show" panties in a neutral skin-tone color for these types of special occasions. Something stretchy with no seams. Jockey is a brand I own quite a bit of.

I would put a pair of white cartwheel shorts on top of the pantyhose under the skirt.

nude colored underwear would be the best choice.

Lined tights/pantyhose, that double as underwear? I don't remember what size they start making those (plus, it's been a while since I've voluntarily worn pantyhose!).

Other than that, I suppose underwear that is closest to her natural flesh color.

NONE of my daughters wear panty hose since *I* was in control of their clothes (think tights and ruffly rumba panties!).

I still wear them...but the girls make me feel like an old lady! I wear beige undies...unless they are control top...and then just the hose.

If she is determined to wear them, white of beige panties should be fine.

I don't know of any Tweens that wear panty hose.

Anyway, most girls, wear bike shorts under their dresses.
At Old Navy, if you do a search, it will be called "jersey stretch shorts."
That is what my daughter wears under her dresses or skirts.

At 12 years old, girls are usually aware of how to sit/stand/play, so that their skirt/dress is not showing their privates or panties.

I would buy my DD the really thin Hanes that don't show panty lines. Look for a color of panty that is closer to her skin tone (tan, light pink, black).

I wouold advise wearing thigh-highs or stockings with garters rather than pantyhose.
As long as the skirt isn't tight, the only way her panties would be visible would be if the skirt was thin and they were dark colored.

I would say nude colored panties would be your best bet. If she doesn't have any, I would try a very light pink pair. I had a light light pink bra that never showed under my shirts, it showed less than the white bra, I think because it was close to my skin tone so it looked natural. When I wear my white skirts, I wear either beige or light pink and never have a problem. I've even worn light green ones and you couldn't see, even if you pulled the skirt super tight.

Depends on the fabric and cut of the skirt. Full-back and black is usually good. Nurses who wear white wear this.

Also, I really appreciate that your daughter is wearing panties. I have heard of mothers saying that it's okay for them to go without as long as they are wearing pantyhose. Girls should always be encouraged to wear panties. They can choose otherwise when they become adult. AND there is nothing wrong with her wearing pantyhose! So what that they are not the norm these days? (I don't wear them, either, but I wore them at her age when other girls didn't.) She has to come into her own and figure out what works for her own sense of modesty. Give her all the options, and let her see what works for her.

Do they still sell pantyhose?

I think she needs to stop wearing them today. I don't know anyone, not even ladies at work who wear pantyhose. If she needs something inside the shoe they sell partial footies at Walmart. They should not show once the shoe is on and they'll keep her foot from rubbing on the edges of the shoe.

I always tried to have a few pairs of nude underwear for me and for my DD. panties & bra (or camisole). Depending on your skin tone nude is pale pink to brown. That way you can wear anything over it without concern. At this time of year it's all too common to see striped or patterned panties under white pants /skirts. My DD is in a dance group that usually wears white and they are required to have nude colored underwear for that reason.

Do you have a white slip to wear between the pantyhose and the skirt? I know old fashion but it does block out the silouette (sp?) of the body kind of not the Princess Diana look before she got married that the press went gaga over.

If not that then have her wear some black underwear underneath and they won't show up. Also put a small cotton pany on under the pantyhose for breathability in the heat.
