i cant exactly help with the twin stuff...but as far as maternity clothes goes, you always have places like target & the major stores in malls (jcpenny, sears, macy etc) have maternity lines...good luck & congrats :D
We just found out that my sister in law is having twins!yay! My question is is there anything that moms of multiples have found that they really could have used that they never thought to get. We've done a registry for singles but not multiples ay help would be appreciated. also does anyone know of a good inexpensive place to get work maternity clothes.? My sil works as a nurse in a doctors office and they must have "professional" workwear no scrubs! We know about mommy and me on buffalo rosd and motherhood maternity on jefferson are there any others?any help would be appreciated !thanks.

I used thrift stores when I was pregnant, Salvation Army or Rescue Mission. Also the clearance racks in men's departments, and plus size women' departments and stores. (please no one take offence to that)
Congratulations to your sister!!
I have twin 4 year old boys and I have to say the best thing I used was vibrating bouncy seats for each child. My husband worked night and bouncing them to sleep was the only way I was able to get two children to sleep at night.
The other thing I loved was a spinning activity center. You put them in a seat in the middle and they spin around and play with the variety of toys that are connected.
The BEST gifts that I got though were when my mom and SIL came over to spend the night and help with night feedings. Sometimes they would say "You stay in bed, I will do all feedings tonight". I cannot say how much I appreciated that. Getting up with two kids at night is really tiring but having extra help is a GOD-SENT!!!!
The absolute best thing I that I could recommend is a "Baby Tracker". It's supposed to be a routine tracker between the parent and a babysitter/caregiver, but we used it as strictly an "eating, pooping, medicine" tracker to keep our minds straight. You can get it at www.timetoo.com.
Each baby had a sheet, and we divided it into two columns so it represented a 24 hour cycle. That way we knew who ate when and how much (and if you have a household of helpers - who fed who), etc. It sounds like a little thing, or something you can keep track of on paper, but it's life saving because it's all pre-printed, it comes in it's own binder (so there's no losing it)...it just adds some order in the middle of chaos!
The other thing - definitely two boppies. I was home alone (and we lived out of state, away from family at the time) alot, and it's pretty impossible to feed two starving newborns at the same time. I would put each in their own boppy (I didn't breast feed), and feed them that way (or in two of the bouncy things).
Good luck & congrats!
Hi H.! Congratulations to your SIL! We have 14 mo b/g twins, and I found that prozac helped! lol. In the begining, 2 table top bouncy seats and 2 travel swings came in handy. (the travel swings were cheaper than the regular ones, they just sit on the floor and fold up to go to grandma's.)
tell her to register for EVERYTHING she thinks she's gonna need, don't unwrap it until she needs it, and if the opportunity for it comes and goes without it being used, return it for store credit because there will ALWAYS be something else! Don't be shy about creating an emornous registry. People totally get that twins are a huge expense, and it's like they're happy to be truly generous.
we were told that twins love to sleep together, so we only got one crib at first, but sooner than later we needed to get another one, because they were rolling and kicking and needing their own space. we also have a side-by-side stroller, because I wanted everyone to have a good view of the world, but now sometimes they fuss with each other and there have been times that i wish we had a tandem stroller. one boppy would have sufficed, and one baby bjorn, because my thought was that i could have one and my husband could use the other....hahahaha. never happened. don't know what she has planned as far as breast v. bottle goes...i wasn't able to produce enough milk, so we went to bottles pretty quickly. we tried more than one 'system', and found the playtex kind with the bent top and screw-on bottom worked the best...can't recall the name right now, if you have trouble figuring it, write back and I'll go down and get the exact name. my sister had recomended the drop-in bottles, but that was just way too expensive, what with each baby taking so many bottles each day.
as far as work clothes go, my only advice would be to keep it simple...like a couple of pair of slacks that are pretty neutral so she can wear them more than once a week without turning too many heads. i went with black ponte pants (knit), but most of my big pregnancy was during the winter. i would also say wait until she needs something to wear before you go shopping...depending on how she carries, she may be able to get away with some of the stuff she already has. my sil trades maternity clothes in her office, sounds kind of funky to me, but creative.
good luck, tell her to post me with any thoughts or concerns...oh, also a body pillow for her to help support her on her side while sleeping. drink a ton of water, eat whenever she wants, whatever she wants, rest as much as she can, take a prenatal, blahblahblah, i'm sure she knows all this. best of everything, A.
ps, a couple of thoughts came to me in the shower.
at babies r us, when you register for twins, any item over $50 gets a discount.
Also, the most thoughtful gift was my girlfriend paid for and sent her cleaning lady over to my house when i went into the hospital to deliver. i had been on bedrest for my last trimester, was absolutely ginormous, and did my best to keep up; but being able to return home with my wee babies to a reallyreally clean house all neat and tidy was fantastic, because the stream of visitors was constant. even if it's just you and a buddy or something, maybe to arrange with her husband to get things in order for her (them!) to come home to...it's so much more marvelous to be able to just sit and take it all in without worrying about dustbunnies and the like. all the best, Drea
When i was pregnant, i used Old Navy. They have so many cute clothes, and they are not outrageously priced like most maternity stores and most of the stuff i got was on sale. There is a maternity dept at the Old Navy in Eastview, but i used oldnavy.com and i had better luck finding stuff on there. There is also a consignment shop on Jefferson Rd. next to the Ski Company, i found alot of stuff there, it's called Small wonders... the woman who owns it is really nice. Mens clothes work to a certain point, they're ok til you start to get bigger, maternity clothes at tailored to your body, so you won't look like your wearing a potato sack when you where mens clothes, especially the pants. Hope that helped... Congrats and good luck :)
Bristol, Ct Once Upon A Child has maternity clothes now.
K-Mart has some good maternity clothes if there is one by your SIL....also, my sister and SIL both have twins...the one thing they both needed a lot of help in the begining and a calender to place time for feedings and what not so you can remember it all...lol...a double stroller is a must....
H.,
I hated the fact that i HAD to buy maternity clothes. They are really expensive. I found that at Burlington Coat Factory they are reasonably priced. Also they have a babydepot in that store and clothes and other baby items are great there. Here is the website. www.babydepot.com Hope any of it helps.
