I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. I have boy/girl twins who will be turning one next month. I'm having a hard time finding some sort of theme to use for their birthday. I have looked at party city and did not find anything I really like that could be used for both of them. I'm thinking of possibly using boy and girl first birthday plates and etc. together. I would love to hear any ideas. Thanks!!!!

A friend of mine recently did "Monkey see, Monkey do" for her boy/girl twin's 1st bday. Neutral colors and cute little monkey decorations, monkeys on the cake, etc.

I have 15 month old b/g twins and we did "thing 1 and thing 2" by Dr suess. Send me a private email and I would be happy to share some pics. We did red white and turquoise and it turned out very cute. I even found matching onesies for them to wear that day.

How about a Music Theme?
Some instruments they can "bang on", etc...........musical notes are easy to draw, and can be in colors too!

Hi V.! I am godmother to my sister's girl/boy twins. For their first birthday we did a pink and blue party. Guests were asked to wear pink or blue and most of the food and drink was pink or blue (pink lemonade, blue Hawaiian punch, red and blue M&Ms, cotton candy, strawberries, watermelon, blueberries and so on). We did use the 1st birthday boy and girl themed decorations from the party store. Whatever you do have a great birthday with your twins!

P.S. This thought just came to me, but may not be up your alley...my sister decorated her twins room with Noah's Ark decor, the theme being two by two. Don't know if that would work for you, just a last minute thought.

We don't have twins, but my son has a female cousin born 2 days before. So for their 1st b-day we had a BIG (mostly family) gathering (my husband is the youngest of 8 kids and there was extended family from all four sides of the two kids) anyway we kept it simple at a park. But the thing that made the day so cute was the prince/princess theme. Some of the older cousins wore princess dresses - I wore a tiera. Things were mostly generic pink and blue, but each kid had a crown and an individual very small homemade cake to dig into. Then my sister-in-law bought a cake w/ castle and some figgures on it for the other guests. I made blue/pink shirts for each to wear.

I have b/b twins but we know several sets of b/g thru our twins club and have been to some really cute parties. One mom did a rubber duckies theme that was really cute, we've also been to a polka dot party, a zoo animals theme party, a bugs party (cute lady bugs & caterpillars) and we had a monkey party for my boys first bday but any of those would work for b/g. Some themes are easier than others to find stuff for at party stores but even if you just have cute invites, a fun cake or maybe a cute poster or whatever that you're using as your "theme" you can always just do co-ordinating color accessories and it will still look thematic. Good luck! Have fun!
PS I just used this woman for a cake for a different kind of party but her work is amazing and I'd recommend her - even if you don't end up using her, it's great for inspiration!

Some gender neutral themes:
Beach theme
Hawaii Luau theme
Sesame Street
Sealife or Fish theme

I like that one suggestion of pink and blue party. Or you can do any other color - like orange or green or yellow.

Try:
www.orientaltrading.com or,
www.birthdayinabox.com

Sure, you can certainly used boy AND girl plates together. Why not? There are no 'rules' about kids birthdays.
My cousin has boy/girl twins as well... that is what they did, or just picked a 'neutral' theme.... like using polka-dots as a motif, or just stripes etc.

Or, even E-bay has birthday party ideas/supplies.

Good luck,
Susan

For my sons first birthday I did baby Einstein which can go either way, but last year my sister in law and I who's kids are 1 year and 1 week apart, has a little girl so we threw a Dora and Diego party, the kids loved it, it was super easy. Just wait my son will be 4 on Saturday and he's all about an army man party, it's easy until they tell you what kinda party to have!

Try "Celebrate Express" website - I believe that's where I came up with my Pink Poodles in Paradise 1st birthday party idea for my twins 1st birthday. I google everything! If you google 1st birthday party ideas you will find tons of things; if you hurry you can probably get your invites in time. I made one big cake for the attendees, and two mini poodle cakes one for each twin girl. You can also do a cupcake for each of them so they have their own cake. Have fun!

I threw a "rubber ducky" theme party for my son's first birthday, which is gender neutral. He really loves bath time so that is where I got the idea. I got the plates and stuff from Oriental Trading company and the colors were blue, yellow, and purple so it works for both girl and boy. I also bought a bunch of rubber duckies in different styles from Oriental trading which served as the decorations and the party favors. The plates said "1 is just ducky!" and for our evite we used a picture of my son in the bath tub holding a rubber duck. It turned out really cute and like I said, the colors are gender neutral. Good luck!

V.,
I have b/g twins and for their 1st birthday a year ago I just did beach themed-they're JUNE birthdays. All I'm saying is, instead of focusing on characters, I focused on the season. We had a pool party with burgers & dogs and I did have flatware and decorations that were specific for the kids but I left it open. This year (we just turned 2) they had more definite interests- he loves Thomas the Train, she loves Yo Gabba Gabba so I gave those items more focus. In any case, I hope you guys have a great time!

Hi - my DS and DD are almost exactly two years apart, so we have their birthday's together. The first couple times, we went neutral - the theme of the birthday party was "It's a Birthday Party". Then we did Prince and Princess and then Cowboy/Cowgirl. Next year we are doing superhero.

Hi V. ,

I also have boy/girl twins and wanted them to
share a theme. We did Baby Einstein and it was so
cute. I had a hard time finding things so I ordered
on line at Birthday Express. They do now have Baby
Einstein and other cute ideas at Alin Paper and Party.
There is a large location in Lakewood but there are
others around depending on where you live. Have a lot
of fun and enjoy. Take lots of pics. Let me know if
you have any other questions. Congrats on your twins
turning 1. Its a party for us parents as well to have
survived the 1st year.
